I'm interested in the same info. To clarify, It looks like the group is called 'GH Traders' now: http://www.ghtradersltd.com/ On the website, All I see is yield curve traders - is that the main activity there?

Stanford MBA vs Berkeley Financial Engineering

Carnegie Mellon (Tepper) has an Investment Strategy track now. For that track, they offer a course 'alpha' that is probably most trading/investing related.

    Chicago Equity-specific Prop Firms

Does Jump Trading do equities? Anyone have any information about the place? From the career opps page it looks like all the traders are also programmers. http://www.jumptrading.com/

    Recommended Programming Language for Finance

I heard Jane Street uses just OCaml. Not sure if that's a beginners language, though, and it might not be used broadly.

Would Prop be the way to go?

I'm getting an MBA and I'm not sure it's exactly the way to go to get a trading job.

    Amazon EC2: Tested and Rejected

I didn't end up doing much with EC2. For what it's worth, It's a lot easier to run instances and manage AMI's etc using the firefox addin for EC2, elasticfox: http://developer.amazonwebservices.com/connect/entry.jspa?externalID=609

    Dell 30 inch monitor

I use some of these at work in a research lab, 2 per workstation. My impression is that 2 of these, one atop the other, would be OK. 1 itself would be OK. 2 side-by-side would by too spread out - you'd be better off with 4 24" screens in a box format. I think you want to be able to...

Help! Longshot Alert: Newbie Needs a Remote Prop home with no deposit.

I bet the same kind of deals are available. However, my experience is that for traders new to prop they don't give as much leverage as I've read they used to. In that regard, they are probably doing most new traders a favor because it would take them longer to blow out and give them more time...

Help! Longshot Alert: Newbie Needs a Remote Prop home with no deposit.

Ask Keystone Trading how much training is without being able to trade firm capital afterward.

Is Assent LLC a good firm?

I think of Assent as somewhere traders go when they have a mature strategy and they know Anvil is the right platform or if they are retail and want to try Anvil. If you are trading remote, I don't know of any education and training available. They might tell you where the manual is.

    Top prop trading firms

Can someone give some guesses at top tier firm statistics such as: - survival rate for new hires from college recruiting (I hear most places weed out unsuccessful hires within 6 months) - profitability of Traders - what % are making mid 6 figures, what % are just eeking by, etc - salary...

Is Assent LLC a good firm?

What kind of training are they offering? I know that for remote traders there is zero training.

Is Assent LLC a good firm?

What does Assent have that some place like Echo doesn't? I'd like to see more pros/cons lists, avg commish for various volume levels, etc. The disparity in the deals people get makes me think it's one of those things where you tend to get a raw deal your first time. In that case, maybe it...

    getco contact info

I digged up a number for them and told them about it. What kind of kung fu are they using to do 20% of exchange volume? That doesn't sound feasible.

    getco contact info

Does anyone have working contact info for HR at Getco? I'd like to send my resume but their mailbox is full and it bounces back from careers@getcocareers.com. They might not be aware that it's full but it has been for at least a week now.

A movie to awake the masses of dummies

Well it's cheap money that helps us grow. It's ironic but the best growth opportunities are probably in developing countries -- but once people make money there they just ship it back to us because we are still seen as a secure spot. Works pretty well for us if you ask me.. Should we be...

Distribution of profits or incentives by a firm using your system in their portfolio

I think the firm should pay you 1% and 10% regardless of the performance of the other systems. They are taking a hefty fee for being middlemen. Is this a kind of incubation period or are you obligated to take 1 and 10 for a long time? One big risk is if 2 of the other systems blow up, and...

    Series 7/55/63 General Reviews

I wasn't really happy with the Securities Institute materials - but that's probably not their fault. I failed with 67% this past Saturday. To be sure, if I had studied more I would have passed. The materials didn't seem as clearly presented as past exams. This could be the nature of the...

    Quant Curious

I'm not a math guru but I've taken a couple of semesters of calc. There is a teeny bit of theory in early calc but most of it is just a bag of tricks that teach you how to take derivatives and integrals of various functions. I think you can get a pretty good understanding of stats without...
