    Sitting comfortably while doing daytrading?

    Some folks swear by the Herman Miller Aeron chair. If it were in my price range, I'd like to try out a Steelcase Leap WorkLounge chair: http://www.steelcase.com/na/leap_worklounge_ottoman_products.aspx?f=11853 We got some Steelcase chairs for a lunch room at work, the Jersey Guest model...

    Multiple Streams of Income to Augment Trading Career

    I think it's a good idea to diversify your income, especially if you grow your trading size to a point that your returns are suffering. If I reached that point, I'd pass through short timeframe gains into longer timeframe investments. Something like: Day Trading -> Active Portfolio...

    S&P500 stocks correlation with SPY

    I've done some more analysis with a dataset to understand better how stocks relate to indices. The numbers I came up with are that the average correlation of a component with SPY is .62 with a stddev of .1265 Here is a histogram of where the stocks fall on the distribution. 7 stocks I...

    Value of an advanced business degree (MBA, MSF) going forward

    I'm getting an MBA this May and the job prospects are pretty much crap right now. 2 years out may be a different story. It's not a path to becoming a trader.

    Prop Firms And Credibility And Blogs?

    Speaking of online presence, I would like to take the opportunity to encourage Bright Trading to do a site redesign using a professional design firm. I wholeheartedly believe that your website is holding you folks back.

    How can you hedge an ETF that holds a basket of stocks?

    I think if you want less exposure to volatility, you just need to size down. I'm having trouble making sense of what you want to do exactly.

    'Idiot-Savant' Traders?

    Neat thread. Hyperfocused my way through it and came upon some interesting observations. Whether it's ADD or Asperger's or something else, there are traits I see in myself. Scored 35. Would have scored higher except I've made lots of effort to be social the last 5 years or so. Hardly said...

    Looking for good remote prop trading firm

    I think deals where you get more BP by showing consistency make sense. Also, it's probably healthier for the trader because they can't just feed more money into losing trades deluding themselves. The question I have is would they start to cover losses as they increase your BP? If not, it...

    intraday volume analysis image

    I appreciate the feedback. I'm not looking for any holy grail in volume patterns. It's more about trying to educate myself on what's going on. Some thoughts about volume: Let's say you are watching a big village market. In the morning, lots of people come to buy stuff for their...

    Good sources on Money Management?

    You might look into the Kelly formula. Ernest P. Chan has a section on it in his book: http://www.amazon.com/Quantitative-Trading-Build-Algorithmic-Business/dp/0470284889/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1230948282&sr=8-1

    Looking for good remote prop trading firm

    Well, I'm hesitant to chime in with advice since I don't consider my track record as a success. However, I think there are a few red flags in what you're saying here. - If you start out with a demand from the market - like that you make $5k, it negatively slants your decision-making --...

    Being happy with life....

    I feel more full of life contemplating my mortality and inevitable end. Sounds depressing - but I think there is a more special satisfaction in Truth. Here's an image for meditation: "Wer war der Thor, wer Weiser, wer Bettler oder Kaiser?" "Ob Arm,ob Reich,im Tode gleich" "Who was...

    C++ programming for noobs

    You install the BrokerServer and the TradelinkSuite - and the tick data samples if you want. The Suite contains a set of little programs that help you backtest strategies or record tick data. You use Visual Studio or Visual C# Express to peruse the example "boxes" that are provided and to...

    C++ programming for noobs

    Judging by the OP's Trader P/L blotter posts, he's using a platform (Anvil) which uses a C++ interface for the API which would explain the choice. I've taken courses which used the Thinking in C++ book mentioned earlier. It's a good one.

    I'd take a cheap class at community college if you are new to programming in general.
