What were those hedgefund managers switching over from? Was it redi+, or what platform. Rtharp has mentioned a few things too like about hammer such as the integration of bullets directly into the trading platform, and also said he was able to implement some strategies with it that he was...

    Is it trading or gambling?

Tell him you are in "risk managment", that is what I used to tell everyone. :p The only problem is if you tell people that at these christmas coctail parties exepect to find yourself stuck in the corner with the accountants and actuaries. Dullsville. :(

    Who's got the best training?

I had heard that those guys are so used to leaning on or trading with large order flow that they struggle when they don't have access to it anymore , but I have a hard time believing that someone who has spent a year on a large trading desk somewhere couldn't eek out a few hundred bucks a day...

    Stock market indices

Do a web search for Exchange Traded Funds or look at some threads here. The DOW is traded as DIA, the S & P as SPY, FTSE100 I don't know off hand, it may be an Ishare.

    Who's got the best training?

Anyone on this board ever gone through a training program or trade for/at one of the big market makers, i.e. Goldman, Herzog, Merrill, Knight, etc? Seems like with all the layoffs on trading desks that some firms must have picked up some marketmaker refugees the last few months. If...

Any traders in the Denver Metro area?

Denver trading group is the one I was talking about. I have been to both, but ususally the MTA there is just 10 bucks at the door, and like Dave said above they get a lot of attendies that aren't members. The DTG meets once a week, which is about as active a bunch as you could hope to find...

    4,9,18 Ma

sorry for duplicate...this might interest some....it was a study done by Yang over at astrikos. Don't think they would mind me posting it as it will probably drive a few page views over there. :p Speaking of moving averages, we've been conducting some studies recently that I think you...

    4,9,18 Ma

I don't know if any traders would back me up on this or not, but in general the guys that trade the heaviest use the least amount of studies and MA's. The thought of some market maker or hedge fund not doing an order because they are waiting for a moving average cross or a pull back to the...

    Looking to replace Cybertrader Pro

Sorry, FA is First Alert. In general you get a lot of firms supplementing their order entry platforms with First Alert or even Realtick these days because traders need more robust charts and tools than some platforms provide. If execution is not an issue then IMO FA is probably the best...

    Looking to replace Cybertrader Pro

Are you looking for another platform to execute through or just something for charts, level II, news etc. If the later you should check out FA, even the thin product has kick ass charts, filters, newsfeed, etc. If you want something to execute through as well then the decision is a bit harder.

Here is a trick I know that is sometimes helpful The best thing about that website is the stock doctor thing they have that gives a diagnosis for each stock. One of the things it lists is it's competitors. In the past if a stock blasts off on news or is getting smoked and I don't know...

    Atlanta Traders??

I went to the Atlanta Options Meeting the other day, and it was informative, however most of the guys there seemed to focus on option stragegies exclusively (ya think? ;-) haha. Anyway, the presentation was on Futures and was pretty basic but non the less informative. It was 5 bucks at...
