i know this is obvious, but...

That I am. I am also familiar with the saying, "If you don't have anything to say, don't talk".

i know this is obvious, but...

That's because I come here to learn and feel I'm not qualified to teach. As you will see by the number of posts I have made I spend more time reading than posting. Catharsis is good but with 1572 posts, don't you think your overdoing it just a little?

Gordon, If there was a LAMEO award to be given here on ET for the member who posted the most non essential posts you would win it.

    Is trading really risky?

I have been self-employed for over 25 years, and during this time I have seen other businesses come and go. It's true that it is hard to get a business up and running, especially during the first two years-- that was when I came close to closing the doors for good. But, without question, I...

    Is intelligence important for trading?

I agree with you Brandon. Most intellects have to reason out things, and that type of thinking will cause you to lose the edge on speed.

What to do when you get a margin call?

Your poll sounds cute but the realism of the matter is that you will have to settle up on the call. In my opinion the best thing to do is to sell and cover the call--never put more money into the position. If the loss is big enough, as was my last and only margin call, you will never forget...

DumTom needs a Trading Strategy can you help.

Tom, one thing I can tell you is that if you are looking for someone to spoon feed you or hold your hand-- you're out of luck; this gig is extremely unforgiving. Not only is it one of the most difficult things to master, it also requires an extremely positive psychic. From your statement...

    IBDs www.investors.com

I subscribe to IBD, and I have found the web site to be useful for stock check-ups (if you're into long term holds), and you can get a fill for accumulation and distribution. All and all, though, I find it's really not that helpful for me to day trade with.

Value of Smart Order routing at IB

I've been trading with IB since May of this year, and I must say that IB smart order routing rocks. I am getting the best fills I have ever gotten. :)

the PDT rule needs to go

I can hardly believe it. I got a call back from one of the NASD representatives today. He told me that the PDT rule was not being changed, however, they would post it on their web site when ever it is changed. Now isn't that profound.:(

the PDT rule needs to go

I think this is about all we can do now. I e-mailed them yesterday, and as before, when I complained, I have not got a response back. When this PDT rule first came into place, I called them and talked to a represenative on the phone, who told me that we had our chance to speak out against the...

    Waxie's crappy infomercial

Waxie posts on ET from time to time, maybe he'll see your posts and tell us something that will help to give credence to his claims. The part about him being so ugly-- well, I don't know what he can tell us about that. Maybe he fell out of the ugly tree and hit every limb on the way down :)

    Well, just got AOL DSL

If I were you I would simply get another line. The cost would be very minimal for the extra protection you will have.

    Power failure

dojibear, I have a Belkin 650VA and it works great. My power has been down as much as 20 minutes (it has 25 minutes of back-up time), and it kept everything running normal on battery until the power came back on. Hope this helps.

    GREED in Trading

I agree. There's alot to be said about taking small profits instead of holding out for that homerun. However, I don't think you leave anything on the table if you exit according to your trading plan. This morning I got what I thought was the top print. The volume started drying up, so I...

    GREED in Trading

For me, greed has hurt my profits more than anything. Too many times I've had a stock to run up and then watch my profit turn into a loss because I just had to get that extra nickle.
