Is there a problem with IB's time and sales?

When I use time and sales, and I do previous/next a lot, sometimes it'll return no data, and after that, stuff will stop loading, even charts. wtf? Does anyone else have this problem?

CNBC Caught In Lie About Mutual Funds

When watching CNBC, don't forget to take it with a bag of salt. (sorry, but a grain just isn't enough)

IBKR opens @ 50 or so.

In fact, some longs can't even sell in the first few weeks. If the long can't sell, then the shorts definately can't short.

An IPO moving downwards offer zero trading opportunities. You cant play an IPO short.

Has anybody built their own computer here?

The issue w/ home built computers is people cheap out on stuff they think isn't important. Like they get a cheap PSU because "500 watts of power is 500 watts of power." Then the crap PSU takes out the rest of their computer some time down the line when it dies. People also cheap out on the...

That's a pretty big premium on the spot price.

    Trading stocks with little money

IB Requires $5000, so if he only has $1500 then it's not an option.

What would be a good place to start for someone who wants to get a trading job?

I'm graduating in a few days w/ a degree in computer science & business. I'd like to get a trading or trading related job, preferably with derivatives (since I've personally performed MUCH better with all the various options strategies then with stocks alone). The issue is, I have no real...

    Shorting stocks today

stocks become unshortable the minute your broker runs out of shares. For stocks w/ Single Stock Futures, or Options, they're never technically unshortable. You can always short a future, or create a synthetic short with options.

IBKR opens @ 50 or so.

FYI, the part about the unusual options volume hurting them... is in the prospectus. So that had no effect on the price.

    NYMEX to start trading Uranium

It's CASH SETTLED, which means there may not be perfect pricing w/ the underlying commodity. Until arbitragers get in the game, it won't be perfectly priced. And like someone else said in this thread, there's very few speculators in the game. A lot of the arbitraging is done by the same...

How institutions divide their massive trades?

If they want to buy, they tell cramer to recommend a sell, then they pick up all the shares the sheep dump. Vice versa if they want to sell.

    Leaving your computer on

If lighting strikes passed through the APC surge protectors, then the company would be bankrupt paying all the equipment warranty claims. I'm pretty confident their stuff works, and it works well.

    Ib New Account

Point taken. Go do it w/ IB, just be aware of the $10 commission + $10 for market data charge so it's not a surprise :)

    Hey IB Sal

I went to IB strictly for the prices. $.75 / contract, and practically no minimum. Can't beat that. However, now that I have switched, I wouldn't switch back if someone gave me $.70 / contract. I love the trading platform. Web based garbage never again!

    Leaving your computer on

Well, I'm still a newbie trader, I'm going to graduate college this month actually. BTW, everything from the outside world that comes into my computer room goes through my APC UPS. I have a hub, 3 computers, and some speakers in my room. The hub, machines, and speakers are all hooked up...

    Mac Computer and Tradestation

Macs are overpriced junk IMO. You can get equivalent performance on a PC for much less then a Mac. Plus 100% of trading software is PC compatible, not 100% is Mac compatible

I'm sure if I really have problems with it, I can find someone who'll be willing to help me out with it :)

    Ib New Account

If you want to paper trade for more then a month or so, don't get a paper trade account at IB. If you don't generate $10 in commissions every month at IB then they'll charge you up to $10 / month as a maintenance fee (plus market data). Get a paper account somewhere else, then open your IB...
