    Does anyone use IB's Charts?

So would tick charts. And also the ability to display more than 1-2 days of small interval (< 5 minute) data.

    BNI Puts

I placed this post with the desire to get feedback, and I got it. That it is about 100% negative is not a bad thing in my opinion and actually more educational for me...You learn something(or some things) from every trade you put on, win or lose and like every market lesson, this one cost me...

    BNI Puts

Although I think there is still a good chance it will play out, it hit my stop loss, so I'm out, end of story. It was a speculative play, and that happens. Since it's a $100 stock selling at $98, I'm assuming everyone who replied is long? Besides, nothing says that just because it's Buffet that...

    Secondary Job Ideas While Trading

How did you swing that one? It seems like they are assuming all risk in that deal. There must be a catch. What hours are you looking to trade, anyway, US open or foreign markets? Doesn't make much sense to do something like bouncing (which is a late night gig) when you'll end up tired and...

    REAL-TIME Simulator TRADING Software?

Supposedly, the IB Papertrading account is the same as a real account (run on the same server) but funded with "fake" money. When I've compared them side by side, they seem to be pretty much in sync and it also seems to track my ThinkorSwim platform as well. You need a funded account to open a...

    401k Trading...

Hopefully this isn't too long and rambling, but here goes. My employer offers a 401k with a 4% match, so I'm throwing in 4% to take advantage of the free money. Previously I was contributing the max allowed to take advantage of the tax writeoff (which I've come to realize isn't actually the...

Is there an inverse or ultra inverse of RTH?

SCC volume looks pretty thin. You might be better off with PUTS on RTH

lose a lot per day, help!!

If you want specifics, you need to ask specific questions. These forums are great for clarification or deeper explanation of something you don't understand. Blanket questions such as "I don't know what I'm doing and I lose alot of money" will just gather snide comments or blanket replies ("trade...

    BNI Puts

Oh well, BNI simply does not want to breakdown. Exited with a small loss.

lose a lot per day, help!!

First recommendation is to stop trading live...period. If you don't, you might as well close that account and donate it to charity, because at least you'll get a tax write-off. I usually make reference to the Anekdoten (search for his username) thread, because that's one I've been browsing...

lose a lot per day, help!!

Answer these questions: 1) Do I have a plan for entries/exits and is it specific enough that I could write it down and give it to someone else to use? 2) What is my risk management plan? How and when do I adjust my position sizes when facing a drawdown? 3) Am I adequately capitalized to trade...

    So it finally happened.

Out of curiosity, do you mind sharing what hammered you? You said you were on an 11 month winning streak, which means you were profitable during a few volatile periods (last Nov, Feb-Mar of this year). Things haven't really been that crazy recently, so I'm just curious was caused the meltdown.

Selling verticals on dividend paying stocks

If you are selling a vertical spread, won't the dividend premium basically wash out (since you both buy and sell an option), in which case it's just a regular spread?

    Math guys?

The FFT is an algorithm that implements the DFT in an efficient manner by taking advantage of cyclic nature of the calculations (which are based upon sines/cosines). You may also want to do a search on Wavelets as well as they can perform a similar function.

    Scams only?

The difference between training to become a trader and training to become a doctor/lawyer/engineer/electrician/plumber/whatever is that all of those training programs are based upon some sort of licensed body certifying that the training program meets a required standard. You don't just set up...

    OHLC fill/stop simulation

Have you considered simply forward testing your system?

    Would you trade this?

I think of slippage as how far I am filled from where I expected to be filled. If I put out an order right now, I can reasonable expect that I would be filled near the current bid/ask (depending on your contract size and bid/ask volumes). If the market is really churning (during Non-Farm...

    Would you trade this?

If you'd like to experience "slippage" first hand, throw out a market order (or just watch a time-sales window and assume you had a market order in) during any major news event (Non-Farm Payroll is a good one to watch, since it happens every month and is normally good for a nice move).

    OHLC fill/stop simulation

I heartily agree with Net on this one. If you are reluctant to pony up for tick data and your broker has an API, you could always cobble together a data recorder to grab bid/ask/fill/volume tick data during the sessions you wish to simulate. Yep, it's cleaner (rogue ticks will be gone, etc) if...

    Would you trade this?

Also, if you look at the trading ranges over the last 8 months, it reels in your chart edges a bit (more likely to hang out between 2-6 than rocket to 9 or plummet to 0). There's some pretty decent support around 2.5 and it hasn't been tested for a while, so that hamstrings your downside...
