    UNG Play...

UNG appears to be setting up to one of my favorite chart patterns, and it's almost time to pull the trigger. I haven't been watching UNG for awhile, so I didn't catch the short (inverse pattern which triggered on 5/3) or the previous long setup (which occurred on 4/11). Daily chart is shown...

    GS puts

Any particular reason? Do you have reason to expect some huge move? The daily chart looks to be in a fairly slow downtrend and GS doesn't report until mid July. Won't time decay really crush you on those May/June positions?

why I just loaded June calls on the silver train

A couple of questions for my own edjamacation... 1) Why did you pick the June calls over May? Would you have exited or sold a spread to hedge yourself if SLV started ranging this week? 2) If my calcs are correct, you had somewhere in the neighborhood of 200+ contracts. What is the reason for...

I'm researching into trading ES futures. I have a quick question about the exercise.

The buyer of an option is the one who determines if the option is exercised, so if you are long the option, then it is up to you to exercise them (can also occur if you let them expire and they are ITM).

    Ninja vs. TWS for backtesting???

TWS is an execution platform only and doesn't have any of its backtesting capabilities that I am aware of. As for reliability, I haven't noticed either one freezing or behaving improperly. I am running NT7, but I typically lag a few versions behind the most recent TWS desktop and API releases...

    Anything besides ES?

I'll cast a vote for 6E as well. It's a nice complement to the ES, as it has good activity during both the London and US sessions. Have you looked at the Russell (TF)? Not nearly as active after hours, but could offer something to watch during US when you are cat-napping on the ES. For...

bought two AGQ May 200 put

I'm going to have to stand corrected and say that was a pretty nice call.

any recommendation for free real-time charting software that work with IB???

Ninjatrader or Tradelink might be what you are looking for. Tradelink is an open source platform, Ninja is free until you wish to place live orders. Both work with IB.

    Obama got Osama

I'm still waiting for "Osama's no longer living under a Barack" or something equally clever.

    Buying physicals...

I know that owning a metal ETF (SLV, GLD) only gives you exposure to the underlyingf price swings, but is not the same thing as owning the metal. I also know that if you wanted, you could take delivery on the physical contract, but those contracts are too rich for my blood, so here's a few...

    Consider an ICO strangle

So what happens to those options when the buyout goes through? It looks like they offer out to 2013. Do the existing contracts just languish in la-la land until expiration?

    Consider an ICO strangle

Good to know...I always learn something from posts on weird situations like these.

    Consider an ICO strangle

Seems like a reasonable risk for the potential of a decent reward...you can pick up the Jan 2012 14/15 strangle for $0.26.

Trader Jeffs YM "Scalp" Trade Journal

Is that commission correct? $6 for a round turn? That seems a bit high, even in the volumes you are doing. I believe you said you use AMP, but I thought their commission rates were in the neighborhood of IBs pricing, which is about $5.

OBAMA TO MAKE EMERGENCY STATEMENT @ 10pm EST : FOX NEWS

I'm glad that MF is dead, but it doesn't make a shit of difference in the grand scheme of things.

    Best Place to Trade Options

That's higher than mine...I think I did $600 in commissions all last year. I guess my overall cost is slightly higher than $1.25 since I just noticed the fee column has "SEC/ORF" charge which normally is a few cents, but can be higher as it looks like I get dinged $0.10-$0.20 whenever I get...

    Best Place to Trade Options

I get $1.25 at TOS and they won't match IB since they are a "deep discount broker" (or so I was told). For the volume I do, $1.25 is fine. The TOS platform is excellent for options and the order entry system allows you to do some pretty cool stuff that is unnecessarily cumbersome in IB. I...

bought two AGQ May 200 put

Sorry to say, I think that's a losing lottery ticket. Why buy AGQ when you can just buy puts in SLV directly? Silver's had the huge run up with few pullbacks and I'm guessing there's tons of people salivating on the sidelines saying: "Man, it's just run up too fast, but first pullback, I'm...

    Technical Analysis = CRAP

I'm asking where you pulled the 50% up/ 50% down statistic from, not a 50% win rate. A 50% win rate is actually a pretty exceptional accomplishment if you have a decent W/L ratio. And sure, blindly entering fixed stops and profit targets without regard to market conditions is almost certainly...
