Money management - the holy grail

If you really have "the gift", what's preventing you from accumulating a kabillion dollars and turning the world into utopia all by your lonesome? Seems like you are kicking the starving African children by trying to dangle it in front of the rest of the unwashed masses.

    Clowns

Looks like the "Jowl"-y giant on the left doesn't feel that austerity measures apply when it comes to partaking of that 6th gyro.

    Tracking E-MINI futures trades

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe futures are reported as a single gain/loss using the IRS form 1256, which you'll get from your broker. You don't need to track individual trades for cost/basis, etc (I'm not sure if options on futures are the same as I am not familiar with them).

    TradeLink/Ninjatrader & Renko charts...

I did a quick search on the TradeLink website, but since I knowTradeLink monitors ET, so I thought it'd be quicker just to wait for an answer directly. Anyway, questions: 1) Does TradeLink support Renko charts? If so, does it support creation from non-"tick" historical data (i.e: second...

If China went full on commie and cuts off the US how bad would we get hit?

Many places can do what FoxConn does, but people build in China because it's cheap. Obviously you can build in the US, but it's expensive. Other places in Asia also have good electronics infrastructures (Korea, etc) as well as closer to home (Mexico). I'm sure manufacturers would bend over...

    Undoing a Roth Conversion...

It might save a grand or two, depending on which bracket we fall in to this year. We could drop 8-10% in effective tax levels if one income goes away for the full year. It's not a huge conversion, but it seems stupid to throw away hundreds of dollars for a little bit of paperwork. At first...

    Undoing a Roth Conversion...

I converted a traditional IRA to a Roth in 2011 but the conversion is pushing me into the next tax bracket. There's a good chance our income will drop by a fair amount during this year, so it appears to make a good case to undo the conversion and reconvert it next year. However, I have also...

c# Automated Trading Software created by myself

Sometimes it's hit or miss, but I found this particular instance to be very good. It's nicely documented and organized (both the code and the wiki). In fact, even if you are intending to roll a charting package yourself, it would be worth a look to see how he's laid things out. I don't know if...

c# Automated Trading Software created by myself

If you don't want to take the time to roll your own charting control, you may want to check out Zedgraph. It's an open-source, c# control and it's pretty slick. It's not WPF, but you can host it in a WPF application. Worth a look, since a charting packing is quite a bit of effort to develop...

    Interesting little IB TWS feature...

Well, it's not actually part of TWS (not in the menus I looked at, anyway). It's found under "report management->Stress Test" when you access your account on the web (or jump to the web from within TWS). It allows you to see how your portfolio performs for various percentage moves up & down...

Interactive Brokers JAVA API Delay for placeOrder

Have you tried sending a message to "api@interactivebrokers.com?" Typically they will get back to you in a few days. You need to be very specific in your question, though as they tend to be quite literal. Also, do you get the same response when you connect to the demo account? Are you...

    Grand_Super_Cycle guarantees 50% crash in S&P 500

Why do you have such a hard-on for this guy? The last time I checked, this is a free web-site, so people can post whatever the hell they like: good, bad, ludicrous, or what-have-you. I'm also not sure why you've given him the moniker: "#1 poster."

Should I panic about my short position on Apple calls?

I don't know how you can consider naked calls ahead of earnings a "safe" play? Normally I'd just say cover and take your lumps, but earnings have come and gone so an upside gap probably won't materialize. That doesn't mean AAPL can't zing past your short strikes, though. Possibilities to...

Why are Long systems more lucrative than Short ones?

I'm assuming you are referring to longer term trends? In my opinion, short ones have the potential to be more lucrative because: 1) Periods of fear/anxiety seem to have more intensity than periods of euphoria (with the 99 dotcom explosion a possible exception). 2) Most people (funds, etc)...

Thoughts on this guys trading system?

Could be a NinjaTrader window but I don't really know what you can tell from the video other than he goes short after breaking support. His website should give you that creeping feeling that something ain't kosher (as does any website where you get a popup window asking if you want to navigate...
