    How do you determine existence?

Maybe. But how does knowing this help us in our relating to the world ?

    How do you determine existence?

OK, but It is possible to construct a logical argument for the existence of God or at least the possibility of the existence of God. You're obviously a reasonable dude. Not trying to start a fight with you.

    How do you determine existence?

Are you suggesting that the only route to truth is empirical validation? If so, which use of "empirical" are you using - empirical in the scientific sense ( test of theoretical prediction - observation ) or the philosophical sense ( based simply on observation )?

    How do you determine existence?

The Archemedian objective POV is unachievable by any mind. All observations are subjective. The best we can hope for is a strong correspondence between the world and our experience of the world; that this correspondence is achievable is evidenced in the success of science and technology...

    How do you determine existence?

Probably applicable re most believers but not necessarily for all. Some folks reason their way into believing in God, etc. just as some reason their way into believing in the validity of political or economic concepts. The notion that belief is always based solely on needs-driven faith...

    How do you determine existence?

If it's judgement day and you're standing before anything that looks even remotely like it might be God it's probably best not to argue.

    How do you determine existence?

Look up Heidegger. He came up with the famous "What is "is"?". Also, He struggled all his life trying to come with an answer to "Why is there something rather than nothing?".

Santa's evolution began in the 4th century with the story of St. Nicholas; the Germanic people coopted the St. Nicholas story and blended it with Germanic paganism and it's in this period that St. Nick took on his supernatural powers. Santa continued to evolve until we have the modern Santa...

    Is Bible inerrant

Jesus and Paul are of the New Testament; I don't know what their connection might be to Genesis, other that they appear in the same collection of books (Bible). Before the One God concept came along most religions were based on Fate as the determining factor in our lives. Christianity...

    Is Bible inerrant

As Dr. Fill suggests it's just possible that we are'nt intended to know the whole story all at once. Maybe God just felt that we had reached a point in our evolution that some sort of explanation was needed. Of course, there were those Greeks with all their amazing science; but they had...

OR... Genesis represents God's explanation of the world to those who had no scientific experience in terms they could relate to. If there is/was God and God felt it timely to explain the world how else would God have presented a cosmology to those who were struggling with basic engineering -...

"The most awesome propaganda force in the whole godless world"

The Republicans have the more interesting set of candidates. I'd love to see Paul debate Huckabee. Both have a genius for language but of the two I think Paul's passion is more genuine. Huckabee is scary. I think the pundits underestimate him.

I spent 2 hours on a response to your post only to have it cancelled because it was too long. Maybe I'll take another whack at it later. Hans

Quote from stu: Stu: "Anything possible cannot be ruled out..." puts Alice and the White Rabbit as Creators of the Universe alongside God and the Flying Spaghetti Monster with a whole Host of others. You'll have to explain to me how there is any element of minimal logic in that, to...

Hi, Stu... Thanks for your response. So.. I believe I understand better from this post than from the last what you perceive as objectionable in my argument. Because Nothing-to-Universe involves only 1 inexplicable connection it is somehow less bizarre than...
