What salary would it take for you to quit this?

When I had a job and was considering going out on my own (pro gambler) I wanted to make 2x the old salary to make up for benefits plus the opportunity cost of losing my former career. But now that I'm established, I wouldn't go back to a str8 job for 1/2 my income now. I'm too spoiled by the...

BRKA / BRKB - A good time to buy?

Brk is more like a mutual fund than a stock. Buy and hold.

Iron Mike Tyson To Be A Prostitute

This is just a publicity stunt. The market for male prositution is gay men, not women. I'd prefer to keep my ears, thank you. Traveler

    Multi-price Flipping. Rotter?

Why doesn't some institution shove a 1000 lot order down his throat next time someone bids size for stuff they don't really want? Traveler

Would you rather make 3 million on your own or half that as . . .

I'd take the 3 MM. That's "never have to work again" kind of money for my lifestyle. Other peoples utiltiy for the money might be different. These threads are fun but might be more revealing if the respondents mentioned their income and net worth first. A 40 year old with 1 MM already might...

Would you rather trade on your own making 100k yr or trade for a firm making 500k yr

Depending on the terms, I'd take the 500k over the 100k. Even if I only worked one year and quit. , I could take the next 4 years off and have the same money. Traveler

    Working as a casino dealer

At the high-end, you'll make 50-150k in tips. These are jobs at Wynn, MGM, Mirage etc. No way to get in there without paying your dues elsewhere or having juice. Entry-level dealing jobs are minimum wage, bad hours on shifts where the tips are low. Get in somewhere and work your way up. As...

The real cost of your broker

I'm not an IB cheerleader, but their policies are disclosed and pretty fair. I think they just don't want small inactive accounts and their policies reflect that. To the OP, if you like IB otherwise, why not put your 10k balance in something liquid that earns interest? You'll only pay...

Is there Market Maker for eminis?

There are CME members that are always on the bid/offer if that's what you mean by market maker. They do not have any obligation to provide liquidity or fill orders like a NYSE or NASDAQ mm would have. Traveler

Why would a Prop firm want me?

They don't have to pay for intraday leverage and any cost for overnights gets passed on to you. Also, they will probably charge you more than .005 if they can get away with it. Traveler

Can Bankruptcy Hurt You as a Trader?

Yep. Kind of like a landlord thinking that a one-month deposit fully protects them against the tenants trashing the place or skipping on the rent for 3-4 months. Traveler

    XP Reinstall

You can use any disk you want, but the activation code on the little sticker on your pc will only work with the proper type of cd. OEM Dell, OEM HP, XP Upgrade, XP Full, etc. The OEM models are locked to specific hardware configs and will only work on the right kind of PC.

Will anyone back me as a prop trader?

Come on guys, the OP could be competent and actually have a good reason for being broke and having no stake. He might also have plenty of assets but might not want to take on the risk. Traveler

    Hermin Miller Aeron

Bought one when I quit my job and went home-based. Best investment ever. Don't think of it in terms of the $700 purchase price. It has a 12 year warranty, so that's only $58/year. You'd easily go through a ton of cheap office depot chairs in the same time period. Only trouble I had with...

Questions about prop firms with options + looking for a firm

I'm in the same boat. Just ended a 5 year career playing online and don't want to play land-based for chump change. I like the idea of trading because it scales well. I get to decide my bet size, not the casino. Traveler

New bankruptcy laws - anyone with any experience ?

Get an attorney. Do not draw on any credit or sell any assets before getting legal help. Keep in mind when you are screwing your creditors you are also screwing us through higher interest rates. I wish you the best of luck with it. Traveler
