You can also sign up for interactive brokers sim account, I recommend that. Expect 0-.25 points ES slippage.

I wouldnt worry about Sharp ratio You need to forward test this in real-time. PF seems okay but there might be a little slippage anyway.

I was in a similar situation myself a few years ago, I took a nights/weekend job just for fun - I recommend you do this to take the pressure off. I have also had several freelance type IT jobs off and on during the past few years in addition to improving my trading skills.

Separate systems. For ES longs move in a different way than shorts do, better to optimize each one separately.

This problem appears to be being caused by some anomalies in the formation of Betterrenko bars. there are some variations in one set of data versus the other for some reason even though its supposed to be the same set of tick information. It may be because of some type of corruption.

Hey guys what is considered the significant open/close for ES? The ES futures never technically closes since its open all night, for example is it 930am, or 815, 800, etc? How about for the close 4pm or 415pm?

I did some analysis on gaps in ES. They did not work as well as predicted in 2013 ie small gaps close, big gaps run. In previous years it was more predictive. I abondoned this strategy.
