If you have attacked and continue to attack my home and family, I am going to go on a rampage and have little concern for the collateral damage. If I have to kill a thousand people to make sure I get the one that may shoot the missile that kills my wife and children, so be it!

I will concur that bigotry is unseemly. However, it is not irrational. A status quo is going to try to perpetuate itself by nature and other cultural influences can and do often threaten the ability of the status quo to maintain it's culture intact. Bigotry is a tool in that resistance.
