    I have this dream...

You have it backwards, when the stock market is going up the only people getting hurt are professional and retail traders who happen to be short, there is no such thing as massive panic BUYING in the stock market, this only happens on the sell side. Markets go down a lot faster than they go up...

    I have this dream...

It was a good story, but you made it seem like EVERYONE in the market was short. Who was doing the buying? A 200 point move in the spoos would be big, but it would be much more likely to move down that much, not up. (thats just how markets behave) What you described basically happened in 1987...

Once again you missed the "partially funded" idea. He has cut back on his leverage having only a 2.2% drawdown over the past 5 years. This means that you give him 5mm tell him to run it as if it was 50mm, the returns start to look much better. 378.93% over the past 5 yrs with a little over a 20%...

    This market wizard needs help

His average annual st dev has gone from 11.53 over the 92-99 to 4.20 from 2000-04. Definitely cut the leverage not losing his edge. S&P500 12.37 and 16.31 over the same periods. Like I said, this guy is a pro. *** Annual st dev is a measure of volatility, therefore risk

Also you guys aren't paying attention to the drawdown, the max was 2.2%, that might as well be zero. He is uncorrlated with every other asset class, never had a down year, and largest drawdown is 4.58% with a 14 year track record. You guys that bet the house on penny stocks might not think...

The reason fund of funds and other investors like a 15% return and a 5% drawdown is that the investor can lever it up. If you can take a 20% drawdown he can return you 60%, can anyone else say that? Notice the "Partially funded accounts," he hasn't had huge returns in the past couple years...

Hey genius, The posted numbers are after fees, this guy has almost a 15% annual return with only a 5% drawdown?! Thats fucking awesome. Beats the s&p and I am sure it blows you out of the water. 5yr *** The above post is addressed to Businessman who has since rescinded his post

POLL - Futures: How do you determine the trend?

So going back to your original response to my post about buying retracements, is that you have also found no way to do this in a systematic manner, correct? My original point is that it is actually a higher risk trade than buying new highs (or selling lows) because it is impossible to tell...

POLL - Futures: How do you determine the trend?

Thank you hirsch.im.wald for the lengthy and confusing reply. You seem to be answering my question on a theoritical basis, while I am looking for a practical (useful) answer. I am a technical trader, I am used to developing things that work not thinking of reasons why something will/will not...

    The Million $$$ Quest...

Ripley, thats less than $10/hour. Even if you didn't graduate high school you should be able to earn that and you wouldn't even have your own money at risk. Maybe you should do something else... Good Luck 5yr

POLL - Futures: How do you determine the trend?

No need to call me lazy, I have some very profitable systems and work very hard. I don't understand what you mean by "non-linear systems theory," could you please elaborate. Could you give me an example of a non-linear system that you know of that is profitable trading retracements? Thanks...
