    Malta

An interesting point about Malta. When I was looking into it I found Malta was actually one of the most congested places in the World in terms of population density. That will probably affect your quality of life. My conclusion was that there are better places to live considering tax and...

    Shariah Law in England?

The answer to your question is yes we would and do mind about immigrants whether they be from Eastern Europe or Muslim countries. Race is not an issue here unless you are overtly racist. The bigger issue, for me, anyway is what the immigrants actually contribute to the country. In my...

    UK Limited Company

So, if that is the case then the 38% will move up to 40% which is the same as CGT. Thus you will be paying an almost identical rate.

    UK Limited Company

I was wondering if anyone who had set up a UK limited company may be able to help me with my question. I was looking into setting up a company recently. It seems that for a small company that has profits of £300,000 or less the tax is 20%. However, once you take withdrawals via dividends...

Is trading Gambling or not .."What say You" Vote here.

"...Do not gamble. Speculation is not gambling. A gambler is one who does not know what will follow, and therefore takes chances. A speculator is one who knows what is ahead. A gambler possesses little knowledge and bases his trading on luck. A speculator, trading according to rules and...

    Exact Entries

Depends on the market. Sometimes you get killed in slippage with market orders - FX futures - other markets market orders have very little slippage - ES. All IMHO, of course. I personally prefer market orders. You miss too many good moves entering on limit orders. Plus, other people can...

My simple, yet profitable trading strategy

Hi there, A couple of thoughts. (1) Backtest the entry method for every half an hour from 9.30 to 2.00. That is, any difference in results between entering at 9.30, 10.00, 10.30, 11.00, 11.30, 12.00, 12.30, 1.00, 1.30 or 2.00? You may have the best entry time, but you don't know until...

A job as foriegn exchange trader

I thought I would expand on the lifestyle issue. It is usually expected for an IB trader to get to his desk at 6.30-6.45am, work until 7pm and then go out on the piss with clients/brokers/traders until the early hours of the morning. This extra, and expected, social activity generally happens...

What's your favorite trading quote of all time?

"Being a successful trader also takes courage: the courage to try, the courage to fail, the courage to succeed, and the courage to keep on going when the going gets tough" Michael Marcus

What's your favorite trading quote of all time?

"During my 87 years I have witnessed a whole succession of technological revolutions. But none of them has done away with the need for character in the individual, or the ability to think." Bernard Baruch

    Soros, ignorant in economic theory?

Actually you are incorrect. I quote from a recent LSE publication: "George Soros (BSc Philosophy 1951 and PhD Philosophy 1954) is to donate $50m (£26.7m) to help tackle poverty and Aids in Africa. Mr Soros pledged to hand the cash to the United Nations' (UN) Millennium Villages Project over...

    Soros, ignorant in economic theory?

I agree with some of what you say, disagree with some. It is, of course, critically important to be able to think differently. To see the market for what it really is, not what people may think it is. However, to say your success (and by implication anyone's) would have been impossible...

    Soros, ignorant in economic theory?

Indeed. After many years of trading. I don't think "logic" is the right way to describe how the financial markets behave. This is all in my opinion and experience. The financial markets don't necessarily behave in a cause and effect manner like a science or in a "logical" way. If they...

    Soros, ignorant in economic theory?

I should be very interested to know in what way you think the logic of Philosophy is similar to the "Basic Logic" of the financial markets?

    Soros, ignorant in economic theory?

I couldn't agree with your sentiments more. A couple of things I want to add to what you say. (1) There is a difference between analysis and action. While trading is so difficult is that you have to combine great analysis with taking action when it matters. Thus, it is not uncommon to find...

    Soros, ignorant in economic theory?

I am a current Masters student at LSE. So, I also have some knowledge of this institution. What you say is probably generally correct. However, as far as I am aware not every course has a economics component at LSE. Although the main focus of LSE is obviously economics and social...

Dow Mini vs. emini S&P - which one???

You'll probably get many traders recommending you the ER2. Traders mostly are attracted to the currently most volatile trading instruments. Equally, on this site you'll find lots of negative remarks about trading the ES. However, just for another point of view. I personally prefer...

Scalping ES, ER, NQ, YM, SP, etc.

Generally speaking I agree with you. However, you can use MACD and MAs profitably. You just can't use them in the conventional ways. They can be very useful, as anything can be if you discover how to use them profitably, usually in combination with other techniques.

    Soros, ignorant in economic theory?

Interesting to note that Soros didn't take an economics degree at LSE. He studied Philosophy.
