    Problem with Comcast cable internet

I was having problems like this with Comcast in the Spring. They were never able to solve it. They kept blaming my computer and my software. I had the tech guys out to my house a dozen times. I spent hours on the phone with the customer abuse reps. Long story short, I dropped them...

Are there any Lady Traders on ET? How do you trade, what are your strategies?

I don't know about tennis and golf, but I know running. To me trading and running are very similar. In running you have competitors, but the real battle is in your own head. You don't expect to come in first all the time, but you want to beat your personal best. To excel in running you need...

Are there any Lady Traders on ET? How do you trade, what are your strategies?

I don't follow O'Neil's 8% rule, although I get his newspaper. When I first get into a stock, I determine my stop using the 2% rule (of trading account). If the 2% rule leaves me flapping in the breeze(not near anything that can be called support), I know its a risky trade. After each day...

Are there any Lady Traders on ET? How do you trade, what are your strategies?

I don't think of myself as a lady trader, but I know I am a beginning trader. The experience thing is far more important than the gender thing. I have been working on teaching myself swing trading, mostly just trend following. Its not exciting, but I am learning. Right now I am working...

Anyone ever try to explain their trading career choice to family?

The only thing that will convince them is your success. Focus on that and don't waste your time and energy trying to sell people on something they do not understand.

how many ex programmers are on ET

I spent 14 years in IT. The work I liked has been outsourced. I don't have the temperament to be a business analyst, or the patience to learn another language and see that work go off shore too. Coding and debugging was good training for chart reading and stock analysis. Time will tell if...

What do you tell your friends who don't have a clue...

I have run across this sort of thing too. I just keep my mouth shut. I find that decisions about money are emotional, not rational for most people. It is impossible to use logic to persuade when emotion is in charge.

    Big SELLOFF Coming

This news has been out since Thursday morning. Why would sellers wait until monday? Next week will probably be choppy, but I don't expect a big move. Time will tell.

    Good beginner trading book?

I have the Toni Turner book mentioned above, and I think it is a great place to start. She explains bid and ask, some basic candle patterns, top down stock picking, watching level II, and other things. It is very clearly written. It does waste about 20 pages in the beginning with a pep...

Real Estate is dying? Investment-wise what is the next Asset Class Du Jour?

I hope this 'get rich by owning rental property' craze ends soon. I personally am tired of perfectly good houses sitting empty (or suffering due to deferred maintenance) because some joker saw an infomercial, and thought they could be a landlord and make lots of money.
