Choppy markets today - getting whipsawed to death ... :-(

Hitman, The trades were a sky scraper setup from the Oz scanner. First down day after at least three up days. This is why I took the shorts. The scanner finds the stocks in real time. You don't need yesterday to be a down day. On the contrary, you want yesterday to be an up day for the...

Choppy markets today - getting whipsawed to death ... :-(

DATTrader, You have to call RealTick and ask them to activate it for you. It costs $20. MB gave me the run around telling me it wasn't available for weeks. I called RealTick and after speaking to four people I finally got it. Bill

Choppy markets today - getting whipsawed to death ... :-(

I guess I should also mention that Tony likes the New Kid on the Block scan, but in all honesty, anytime I trade something from that scan I get my a$$ handed to me. Yet, he makes a killing off that scan. I guess those stocks are just too thin for me ... On another note, it is great to have...

Choppy markets today - getting whipsawed to death ... :-(

I believe the pullback scan is what he now calls bottom fisher. I have used this scan successfully as well, but in these markets, I like the sky scraper a lot better :) Bill

Choppy markets today - getting whipsawed to death ... :-(

http://www.stockjunkie.com/tonyoz/sc9.htm He has his other scans on there as well, but this is the one I have been using last week. Bill PS: I have been heavily coached by Tony, (I live 5 minutes away from him and known him from DTUSA), but Sniper happens to also be my last name :)...

Choppy markets today - getting whipsawed to death ... :-(

I hope they fix the damn bugs in the new version. As to ADRX, I didn't pick it - the Oz Scanner did. But have been having problems with the scanner in the new version of RealTick. It was working like a charm all of last week.

Choppy markets today - getting whipsawed to death ... :-(

I had an okay day, but I quit early because of software problems. I took GILD, BGEN, AMGN, and ADRX short on a sky-scraper setup - did okay on those. I also took a whopping 24 cents from QQQ on the short side. I had a ton of problems with the new version of RealTick today, so I said enough...

    September Trading Journals

Thanks for the heads-up :) That is too funny. The NVDA man has changed clothing. I didn't realize that. This makes his post even funnier. He said, "Only those with a crystal ball can pick the tops and bottoms with precision on a consistent basis." LOL, Wasn't he the one who picked NVDA's...

LOL, Okay, since you took the initiative to let Ken speak in his defense, I don't see why he should be treated any different than Steve Woods was on this thread (in which I did not participate) http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2239 After all, they both are in the...

Relax man! My criticism of Ken's statements come from the fact that he doesn't trade, period! If you have anything to say in this regard, I am all ears. My criticism of Ken's method is that even in the example in his article there is so much gray area. His entry is well out of his...

    September Trading Journals

The problem I have with his strategy is that he can't even find a picture perfect example to put in his article :) Check out his entry criteria "Enter 0.3 to 0.5 points above the previous day’s high (for long trades) or low (for short trades)." Yet, his EBAY short example is clearly...

Okay Hitman, you know the sizes I trade (if you remember from past posts) and you know that I trade for a living. So this post is not coming from someone who says you have to go for bigger points while not trading for a living at the same time. I am going to post a link to two of the setups...

    Shorting to be outlawed?

I had a great day in the market today. It was too easy :) But if no shorting would have been allowed, I wouldn't have made a penny. I was trading the sky scraper setup today: http://www.stockjunkie.com/tonyoz/sc9.htm The stocks I took short positions in were: ILUM Short at 38.32 SYMC...

    strategy read in a daytradingbook

I will try to answer this one. 1. The key players hide behind the ECNs, so more often than not, you don't really know who the seller or buyer is. 2. This has nothing to do with them being net sellers or buyers 3. True, but too much room for margin of error 4. Yes, that's true...

    My story for the week

This is a classic, The old mix-the-time-frame devil of the stock market. The OPINION factor. Kev, thanks for sharing this story. It has all the elements that make many successful traders blow out. And many on this forum touched on the different aspects and factors of discipline, risk...

    The Turning Point

One of my very dear friends used to tell me that his father was a very fortunate man. He would tell me the story of how his father would always find opportunities to profit from. He would then add that he thinks there is no way that he can make in a life time what his father made in one year...

Regarding Calls For Patriotical Stock Buying/Not selling

Since you touched on a very sensetive area, I'd like to share with you the following email Tony Oz has sent CNBC and forwaded to me. I asked Tony if I could post his email and he gave me permission to do so. Bill

How to start a hedge fund?

MGB: I know the one I used, and I don't want to recommend them. I can't remember the exact name of the other two, but if you do some reseach I'm sure you can find it on your own. Babak: Excellent post! You covered some of the most important points. I have setup my own hedge fund just...
