What is the best direct access software and broker for experienced traders?

^ Yes I'm aware of that. The structure is the same with IB, just not as generous.

$23.10 per transaction of stock in the US?

I think he thinks it's legitimately $23.10 to sell shares of a stock whereas it's 'the proceeds of sale x 0.00002310'. OP, it's an SEC fee, if you sell 1000 shares of a $10 stock, the fee is $0.23. Get it?

What is the best direct access software and broker for experienced traders?

As Morse said, for stocks with IB go on tiered fee structure, add liquidity, route your orders to an exchange with rebates and you should be paying far less than $10/1000 shares. With options/IB I have no suggestions.

Why does SPY hourly show a gap, but not daily on Jan 30, 2018?

The consolidated tape has nothing to do with yahoo or tradingview. It's likely they get filtered data.

What is the best direct access software and broker for experienced traders?

I'm no shill but lightspeed is good. Or In most cases, it costs me less than $3 to trade 1000 shares with IB. Lightspeed is good. A decent broker offering Takion software would also be comparable. Both are better in execution and fee structure than IB.

Why does SPY hourly show a gap, but not daily on Jan 30, 2018?

You would need access to the consolidated tape for that day. Chances are, you will see a trade printed at 284.74 time-stamped for January 30th. There are many legitimate reasons for this to happen, not all trades are equal. Take a look through the tape today and you will see many anomalies...

Why does SPY hourly show a gap, but not daily on Jan 30, 2018?

There's nothing to fix. The print was legit.

Why does SPY hourly show a gap, but not daily on Jan 30, 2018?

It's not fraud. It falls within reporting guidelines. Every trade has to be printed to the consolidated tape and there are different guidelines for different types of trades. It's not a copied trade, it was a trade that was unreported. Some large trades may go unreported until the following day...

Why does SPY hourly show a gap, but not daily on Jan 30, 2018?

@FireWalker Not sure where you're getting your data from but it's not accurate. I presume you don't have a real-time unfiltered data feed? If so, you would see throughout the day that there are out of the money trades printing (on time and sales) somewhat regularly. These prints create very...

I am 98% convinced that the way to profitably trade by yourself is like this

Trends are a series of higher highs and higher lows (or lower lows and lower highs) that persist over time. That's all there is to it. Keep an open mind, don't marry one strategy. You are 98% mean-reversion is the way to go until you mean-revert your way into a margin call when the market...

...sigh. You are opening pandoras box here and to be honest, in your case, it's not really worth digging for answers. If you trade 50x/year, just take the offer when you want to buy something or hit the bid when you want to sell it with a market order. No need to be fancy.

Do Day Traders Rationally Learn About Their Ability?

Agreed. Traders are for the most part net losers, and delusional about their 'abilities'.

Auto, AMEX, BOX, CBOE, ISE, NOM, PLX, PHLX, BATS...

I'm not sure about those brokers but in most cases you can opt to route your own orders. At that point, it would be prudent to understand what each exchange has to offer. If you are using a broker to auto-route your order for you, then I don't understand why you care how it's routed.

Auto, AMEX, BOX, CBOE, ISE, NOM, PLX, PHLX, BATS...

Each exchange is different. Order type, execution cost (or rebate amount), and speed of execution and queue rules are different for each exchange.

From $5000 to Trading for a Living. Is it possible to?

Yes, it's possible if you know your craft, can keep your losers small, and are satisfied with a couple hundred dollars on winning days.
