C'mon, THIS must surely indicate the market top?

For the stock market to keep going up it needs to be the burger eaters who are buying, not the billionaires..

C'mon, THIS must surely indicate the market top?

Has it occurred to you that this is not sustainable?

C'mon, THIS must surely indicate the market top?

No, it's because there is a small number of new planes available and huge numbers of buyers waving their wallets.

We are seeing more obvious signs too like record waiting lists for the latest model private jets.

Marissa gets sexy: http://www.vogue.com/magazine/article/hail-to-the-chief-yahoos-marissa-mayer/#1 This is very similar to Jeff Bezos' purchase of the Washington Post. Think about the psychology: in order for business leaders to make such high profile gestures that are completely...

Is this Jeff Bezos' jump-the-shark moment?

Enough to sell at a good price! BTW are you still bearish?

Is this Jeff Bezos' jump-the-shark moment?

But why would anyone want to own a newspaper anyway? This is not business, it's ego. Antidepressants? Because bears must be depressed?

He overpaid: http://www.businessinsider.com/jeff-bezos-bought-the-washington-post-for-four-times-its-worth-2013-8 I love that phrase ".. the usual financial metrics don't apply..". It really is my favourite :) BTW he's only a "multi-billionaire" as long as AMZN remains as high as it is...

Is this Jeff Bezos' jump-the-shark moment?

Bezos' business is not buying American institutions. This is an 'ego' purchase. It reminds me of ebay buying that offline auction house.

Is this Jeff Bezos' jump-the-shark moment?

Yes, I meant 'trophy' in the sense that Tumblr was a trophy..

Can you show me any of these trophy purchases that took place in March 2009? When they would have been fantastic value. Agreed, WPO is less of a bubble than AMZN but my question has not been answered.

When in the cycle do rich people usually buy their trophy assets? Tops, or bottoms?

Is this Jeff Bezos' jump-the-shark moment?

How's this for hubris? A dot com entrepreneur buys a DC institution (The Washington Post) for no apparently obvious reason, other than that he can. Amazon itself is a very frothy dot com stock with debt and sales margin issues. Sign of a top? I mean the stock market, not AMZ necessarily.

    Lebanese Banks

The Lebanese pound is pegged to the US dollar. A Lebanese pound bank account pays 6% interest. Lebanese banks are regarded as safe because not a single one went bust or lost money during the entire civil war period.
