Wow, big deal! Alert Fox News, they'll run this for a week. Noone else will care because everyone makes mistakes like this - even the president, he's just human.
number22, yes watching the yield curve would make sense. Is the shape of the yield curve normally an indication of shifts between contango and backwardation?
Prankster, umm... good luck with whatever you're up to.
Unemployment at 8%? Noone expects that to happen for at least a year, and they're the optimists... Sure, you can think about V-shape, but the fact is that the "growth" is cash-for-clunkers and stimuli. U-shaped, my friend.
Agree with slapshot...
I'd be interested in some opinions on how long it will take before the CL futures might move into backwardation (qualified guesses or not). Next summer? When the economy recovers and we really, really believe in it? When/if Iran gets bombed?
During European and early US hours IB has almost always 1.5 spread - sometimes 1 when it's particularly active. When slow, it can be 2. After US close it's 2-2.5ish.
Right now things are looking pretty quiet and dangerously ranging... I think EURUSD will pull back from 1.49 but waiting for some ugliness before taking a short pos - after all it might thunder ahead to 1.50.
They're still seeing the deflationary pressure and are not worried about inflation. Trying to avoid another recession. It's going to be nine months before they hike...
Ummm... yes if there was even a remote connection between the excuse for going to war and the end results...
Bombing Iran wouldn't be terribly costly, but energy prices would rocket and it would hit the US economy hard and slow down potential economic recovery. Ground troops, please...
This election is great news, thank God Steinbrück is going! This is what Merkel wished for, so the next few years should be good for the German business climate.
No problems trading through the whole day with IB - this is just another smear campaign against IB. But I agree with the representative from Global Futures - everyone should have a backup broker.
I thought the battle was fought with the owners of Ecco, didn't that result in anything? Just asking since you seem to be informed, thanks for the CQG details.
I want to create my own index in my charting program (Investor RT), basicly replicating the exchange traded Dollar Index - but also doing this for Euro Index, Yen Index, British Pound etc.
I understand that trade-weighting is what's normally done, but was wondering if someone could possibly...
Dogfish, is it true that CQG uses a static Depth of Market? The b*stards at TT having been holding the futures industry at gunpoint for far too long on a clearly false patent.
This is a pretty good initiative, and something the G20 might go along with. The reasoning is that capital sees no borders anymore, and it's useless for the US to reel in dometic credit creation if there's loopholes in other countries which allows the created credit to be imported back into the...
Are you guys serious? I doubt anyone would use IB as a broker because of their charting! Their charts is ok for simple stuff, but if you're at all serious get a subscription to Sierra Charts or Investor/RT. And Ninjatrader is free!
