Carl Icahn moving hedge fund to Miami

In NY 40,000 high income taxpayers foot over half the state income tax bill. Eventually people get tired of the high taxes and move out. Tepper moved from NJ to Florida a few years ago. The removal of the SALT deductions makes the decision to move out of these high tax blue states a lot easier.

If Intrinsic Value = Option Price Why Buy OTM?

You buy out of the money options if your view is different from the consensus. They are also cheaper. You will get a bigger percentage return if your outlook proves correct. Unless you are employing an advanced option strategy you are probably better off just buying the stock (rather than buying...

Can someone please tell me how negative interset rates work for Japan?

Some institutions in Japan are required to only hold certain types of assets. Insurance companies fit into this category. They buy the govt bonds because it is one of the few choices they have to invest their funds.

Monday pls come faster (a scalpers wish)

Scalping used to be a way to make money for the pit traders since they had access to customer orders ("paper") which would give them the ability to buy at the bid and sell at the offer, and the speed advantage to trade against retail orders. Since the futures have gone electronic that advantage...

Monday pls come faster (a scalpers wish)

You don't seem to want to answer the question. Face it, you are a gambler who can't wait for the casino to open to get his next fix. You won on Friday, on Monday you might not be so lucky. Net/net you will likely come out making or losing a little. You are probably too lazy to do the real work...

Monday pls come faster (a scalpers wish)

How many people actually make significant money trading the emini contract? On a yearly basis, do you? Or do you just catch a lucky trade on a highly volatile day. The emini's are a relatively efficient market and it amounts basically to trying to outguess others as to direction. The trick is to...

Can someone please tell me how negative interset rates work for Japan?

They can store it in a vault but you needs guards to protect it and insurance to insure against such things as fire or natural disaster. If a fire burns all your currency that negative bond yield would have seemed like not such a bad investment.

Can someone please tell me how negative interset rates work for Japan?

Institutions buy govt bonds to avoid risk. If the falling price of other assets causes more and more people to seek the safety of those bonds, the price of those bonds are likely to go up. So you might have bought the bonds at a negative interest rate, but if other people want the safety of your...

selling the day of a reverse split

Some brokers would put a dummy position in your account to let you sell. That way when the split position goes through the re-org process it will cancel out the short created by the dummy position. I find that after a stock split many stocks just trend lower day after day. You eventually get...

The almost guaranteed to lose day trading journal.

I bet there aren't many traders who consistently make good money trading the S&P minis or currencies on a retail level.

You Have To Live It To Believe It

They had to put 20 kittens through that to figure this out? Sometimes these people need to use a little common sense. The only point they proved is that they know how to waste time and money.

rebates showing 100 or hiding size

You should get the rebate as long as your total size is executed on the ecn which has a rebate. Whether the order shows or not is irrelevant.

    7 Figure traders

That would be true if these guys were index arbs. They are not according to the videos. The top trader there describes how his latest trade is in TLRY. At 20x leverage that sounds like a recipe for disaster.

    7 Figure traders

No matter how skilled you are there is still a degree of uncertainty in predicting stock moves. That high amount of leverage makes you much more susceptible to the inevitable black swan event that blows you out.

    7 Figure traders

In order for that to be correct the beta of the concentrated positions would have to be 8 times the beta of the 400 stocks. That is somewhat hard to believe.

    7 Figure traders

If you need 20x intraday leverage to make money it is only a matter of time before you run into real trouble. As they say - there are old traders and there are bold traders, but vey few old bold traders.

    7 Figure traders

If they are making seven figures a year why are they still with a prop firm? If you had that track record you would go off and trade your own funds after a relatively short period of time. If the firm had strategies that produced these kinds of results they wouldn't be teaching it to traders...

    my issues with IB

Considering customer acquisition costs, I would think it would be relatively cheap to add a few lines of code to enable more options (like being able to change colors in the market maker box) on the IB platform.

    my issues with IB

Not being able to change the colors in the level II market maker box is a big drawback to the IB system. Being able to customize the box makes your job much easier.

Why Warren Buffett Said No to Lehman and AIG in 2008

What difference would it have made? For his personal fortune he wouldn't care how the market valued his position. Berkshire still has to follow GAAP accounting rules, correct?
