    AMEX order execution

i've got IB, and my equipment is all current and working. this is also an extremely slow and thin stock i've been trading ishares for a few weeks now and am getting some feel for the specs repetitious tactics. I'd say about once every 1-2 days, he will dishonor his quote when I send a...

    AMEX order execution

what is a quote, if it is not firm? the amex is making a regular practice of pulling his bid after i send a mktable limit at that price. it's a way of teasing out people's hands without honoring his market. question, is there no obligation for the amex spec to fill marketable limits at...

    Muslims are enraged!!

as far as i can tell it's the bush admin doing the appeasement "In a strongly worded statement, a U.S. State Department spokesman said Friday that, despite respect for the freedom of expression, the publication of cartoons that incite religious or ethnic hatreds is unacceptable."

Limit orders in TS automated system?

i think i misunderstood. is this code attempting to capture a range, or enter some sort of breakout after a small retrace?

    How do I get noticed

i was going to say, i saw this happen several times as well. the few who were socially and technically talented with serious desire got into analyst and assistant positions. i managed to get an in-house offer out of IT into a modelling position, but didn't accept it promptly enough while...

Limit orders in TS automated system?

that's good advice. i've been experimenting for the first time with these myself. conversion to mkt orders after x seconds will usually kill these types of curves, especially in proportion to the frequency of the trades. so as mercurial pointed out, if there's a sweet spot you can find with...

    AMEX order execution

thanks for passing that on, i hadn't considered that. if that's the case, maybe they should implement whatever solution they employ on IWM, or perhaps its just so liquid that nobody misses the amex if they're absent (which i suspect they're not - will have to observe its open).

    Muslims are enraged!!

sounding trite doesn't make my prev post false. i'm no expert, nor have i gone out of out of my way to research counter-fundamentalism, but i don't think it's fair to say 'they've' done nothing to root out osama, hamas, iranian pres, bombers or the like. that's simply untrue. muslims fought...

    Muslims are enraged!!

an astonishing flaw in your world view, is that you assume muslims are one entity, one person, who all think alike. how many muslims are there, spanning how many countries in the world, sputdr? just imagine if a few bad muslims assumed all americans were like you. is it really that hard to...

    AMEX order execution

i hear you completely and i appreciate the sober assessment. i emailed the retail contact for ishares products, but would expect that to likely fall on deaf ears. if it takes a big enough chunk out of the strategy i'm attempting to run, i guess i'll vote with my dollars. thanks man

    AMEX order execution

lol, today he started quoting 10+ mins into the day. how normal is this practice? it's a pretty severe disadvantage for anyone looking to TRADE these instruments

    AMEX order execution

i can't answer your questions, but i can add some as i'm also new to Amex stocks, specifically Barclay's ishare products. this is what i've been encountering: 1. send a mkt sell at the amex specialists bid price for 100 shares, get filled after 5 secs or so, do it again, get filled, third...

Futures Settlement Prices -way out of wack again!!

futures theoretically converge to spot at settlement. if the contract represents the value of the underlying, then in the last moments up to settlement, it shouldn't hypothetically be worth more or less than the underlying or it would resemble an arb. as for the remaining 3 point diff, not sure

    Forex Scams~~Good Article by Wikipedia(en)

would be nice if all the forex newbs would come to index futs and at least give other retail traders a chance at their money. seems better for everyone at the retail level to compete against each other, assuming everyone thinks they have a shot at profitability

    Faster Processing For Backtesting?

in my experience benchmarking identical TS optimizations on a 1.7 Pentium M laptop with 1G ram, and 3.2 Pentium D with 3G ram, the laptop is actually a little faster. I don't use it enough that the time savings is important, but I was surprised that the desktop was actually slower.

yeah i read the notice, prefer not to speculate on whether that's the cause but it seems likely. I'm not using volume or tick bars.
