    "I Am A Market Maker"--The Quote

Well, still. They should have planned ahead and managed that risk by being younger so they could compete on price, fewer in number so they could all get jobs, and less skilled so they would be applying their entire skillset. Because delta and gamma hedging (where the risk is staring you in...

    "I Am A Market Maker"--The Quote

To borrow a phrase from Rowan Atkinson, riskfree wouldn't get it if it came in a large bag marked "IT". I'm not even sure what this particular ego trip is all about. It sounds like "look at me, I've never been a market maker". Glad I could brighten your day a bit with some internets sarcasm.

Retail traders also get to tell MMs which options to trade long or short. If you make a living from other people telling you what to trade, you're one heck of a risk manager. Wow. Nice non sequitur. It's a valid point, though. They should have planned ahead and been faster and cheaper than...

I factually understood that you're missing something else a few inches above your teeth. Your math presented the equivalent of "1+1=2" as a monumental discovery. You managed to state it in a confusing and almost-impressive manner, like you were trying to convince people that you'd discovered...

which is a better risk control strategy

Unless it's a stop limit order, there is a guarantee that it will get filled. There is, however, no guarantee that it will get filled at your trigger price. If the stock gaps through your price and IV gaps up, you could wind up losing a lot more than you expected. Spreading or otherwise...

    Question about Profits

When you buy a thing for money, and you sell the thing for more money, you have made a profit. When you buy a thing for money, and it is worth more money, you have a paper profit. There isn't any more to it than that.

    Strangle strategy for options

Wow, nice necro. As I read your post, I was trying to figure out what it meant for a strangle to be ITM. I have a feeling you mean writing an ITM call (low strike) and an ITM put (high strike). Just so's you know, that position is equivalent to writing the put at the low strike and the...

    Rookie Question

What MTE said. It's your system, and only you know what exactly it predicts. Assuming that: 1. your system makes accurate predictions, or at least accurate enough that you are confident trading them, and 2. your system predicts the relative price of a particular security at two different...

    Rookie Question

I suppose I'd try to buy the index intra-day on Thursday below the open, and sell it on Friday as early in the morning as I could. Someone else here probably has some more exotic strategies. Wait, it's possible for things to change after you've already done your analysis and research?

What we have here is failure to communicate. You say that you're entitled to your "opinion", but you consistently present risk-free trading as a fact. A sooper-seekrit fact that you can't tell anyone about. You are certainly entitled to your opinions, but you are not entitled to your own...

He's talking about the original poster, who also has fewer than 50 posts to his name and who does have a link in his post. I guess you figured out that he was talking about you by using the same keen observational skills that led you to invent math and find previously-undiscovered risk-free...

Right. The reason why that's true is because anyone who finds a risk-free trade that earns more than the risk-free rate can and will trade the hell out of it until their own trades force the market to readjust. Ergo, if this crackpot has a risk-free strategy that outperforms, say, US...

Nonsense. You're obviously not an "expert", since those guys know about risk-free profits and will tell you all about them if you only ask nicely. I mean, why would they keep such things to themselves? And what are they risking by telling you? I'll tell you what. Nothing. Because it's risk-free...

How I beat my broker, so they can't front run me.

I think I know what they gain from it. If they route your order themselves and get you a fill, they get paid. If you route your order yourself and it goes to the wrong exchange and you don't get a fill, they don't get paid. When you trade more volume more easily, both you and your broker win.
