    Trading Ideas/Potential Trades

I'm getting confused too Neo. First Pejman told me "To me, it takes at least 90 minutes to put on the full position. My short term trades are approx. 2 days. My long term would be considered 3 months. However, I will ride a trend for as little or as long as it wants to go. I always...

    1. I don't recall agreeing with you on this point. If the chatroom is making trading calls, even just as an educational service, it seems like little additional effort for the someone in the chatroom to click the buy or sell button on the chatroom account after the call is made. A reputable...

"The same problem arises with your measurement by audited trading statements when you refuse to consider "good" or "honest" anyone who won't let you in his personal financial situation" With respect, this is a red-herring and a cop out. I have made it clear in a previous post that I for one...

"In fact, the greatest risk at any time is the point of initial execution " "If hedge is applied, stay neutral until you can clearly decide which part of the trade you want to lift. " Why is deciding to lift a hedge any less risky than deciding to take a position from a zero exposure...

My math was only a guestimate and I tend to use hyperbole for effect. Thank-you for not trying to deny the substance of my conclusion though. Brandon also deserves credit for this quote extracted from earlier in the thread: "I used to run a chatroom because it paid about $30,000 a month and...

    Estimating todays volume

I didn't develop the numbers. I think I got them from tradingmarkets.com . I have not checked them rigorously, but they seem reasonable to me based on my experience in using them. I don't know of any way you could predict from opening transaction, which would not be a valid concept for Nasdaq...

From Limitdown: "WOW - what a thread when I started this thread, I never, NEVER, expected it to have gotten to this level of a fever's pitch." You are far to modest. I recognize a good troll when I see one. Congratulations.

Regarding Vadym Graiffer: "Many times I question why you just don't trade for yourself and leave this shit behind. You are too good of a trader to be doing "public service." I have a lot of respect for my fellow Canadian Mr. Graiffer, but the answer is obvious. From a post by him...

Just think, all this name calling could so easily be avoided by those prepared to trade an audited account in association with their services. But none of them will. Why? I certainly would if I could and were in the business, rather than have my reputation and integrity impugned. Yes, I know I...

    Why Prop??

I doubt that I would be comfortable in any trading room for a similar reason. I have learned from experience that the thought of anyone figuratively "looking over my shoulder" at my trades makes me very uncomfortable. Therefore, I never discuss my trades while they are on.

    Estimating todays volume

I am nor sure if this is what you are looking for, but I wrote this in another thread. I do all my scanning the night before based on EOD data, but I am very much interested in the volume behaviour of the stocks on my shortlist. To estimate EOD volume for comparison with previous days I use...

I thought I had come to a revealing conclusion. Anyone who is called Ken must run a useless chatroom. Ken Calhoun is blasted here and Ken Wolff is blasted in the Absurd Trading Strategies thread. Because I do not have the wisdom to sort the wheat from the chaff I had regarded them all as...

Recent Books: Any Comments Master Swing and Day Trader

MST is excessively wordy, repetitious and full of unnecessarily invented jargon. Others have said it is easier the second time. I was not able to raise the enthusiasm to finish all of it the first time, let alone twice. However, someone who has not read much else on short term trading could get...

    Effect of Decimalization

Markets appeared to be getting harder to short-term trade even before decimalization, at least for me they were, with fewer straight up or straight down moves. There are several reports on this board of people finding it much tougher this year. I wonder if the easy money days were a one-time...

It is considered very bad internet etiquette to publicly post private emails. My comment, which was intended to be constructive, was not based on whether it was in house or not, but on who appeared to be doing it. "Keep scratching that head of yours. Maybe the answer will come next...

Well, I am not a scalper, but presumably I would if the short term trend is up. I am afraid I still do not understand how your long term picture affects your short term tradin.

You have made a case for a bearish posture. If you are right it may take months or years for the bearish scenario to unfold. Most people here seem to trade on the minutes to few days time scales and for them the shorter term trends are much more significant (I would think) than the type of...

"I visited some of the links offered above, and they all had something good to say, but again, what I fear most about traders is that they will get too caught up in the rhetoric and the charting, and all the "stuff" offered to them. This sometimes tends to make traders (especially newer traders)...
