    Extended hours options trading

SPX and VIX options trade form 2am to 8am ct. with plans to extend these hours to almost 24 hours a day. The only retail broker that I know of that allows trading in this full session is Interactive Brokers

Where are all the little fills coming from?

If all the trades came at the same time, I'd say it was one of two reasons. The order was sent to 1 exchange and was filled by multiple market makers. Or it was broken up and sent to multiple exchanges and when the price became favorable, was then filled. Wasn't clear from you post if the...

Can a retail investor start a new option that is not available in the existing chain?

This would just be the start of your cost if you wanted to trade as a MM on the CBOE. You would need quoting software, data feeds, etc. You would also have to become licensed. Then you would need to have a clearing firm, which as an individual is very difficult, so you would most likely have...

Can a retail investor start a new option that is not available in the existing chain?

You can request new strikes be added. I would do this for the SPX (single listed by the CBOE) and the CBOE used to be fairly accommodating. I would simply email them for the request. Unfortunately about a year ago, they now require you to make the request through your broker and your broker...

    IB Smart Routing Config.

I see what you are saying now. I was just looking at max rebate option for option orders. I don't see that choice for stocks. Apologies.

Options holdings with impending merger + conversion to new listing / class.

There is no blanket restriction on opening new positions in these adjusted options, although some brokers will not allow it. MM's still provide quotes here, although over time liquidity will most likely diminish.

    Question about dividend arbitrage

Dividends are priced in but the calls here are unique as they can be exercised early. They "should be" trading below parity, but they can't be due to the exercise opportunity. There are several ways to arb this. The main way is to buy or sell a deep call vertical. You exercise all your...

Lumber Futures up 200% - Lumber mania is sweeping North America

Not sure where you're getting the 100K number. The article you linked says the average house costs about 30K more due to lumber. "Prices have, in turn, skyrocketed. For years, the price of 1,000 board feet of lumber has generally traded in the $200 to $400 range. It’s now well above $1,000...

    Question about dividend arbitrage

This is completely incorrect. This is why it is necessary to exercise the call, as your call position will also be "marked down" after the dividend. Consider a stock is trading at 20 and there is a $1 dividend. You own a 5 call that is expiring in a few days. The call will be trading parity...

    Question about dividend arbitrage

When looking at whether to exercise a call for a dividend, its the price of the same strike put/vs the dividend that is important. Remember that long stock is synthetically the same as being long a call and short a put. LS=LC SP. So if you are long a call and there is a dividend, if you...

Lightspeed Order Flow Finra Violation Dissappointment, Suggestions?

This is a nice feature. My current software won't allow this (I recently asked). Curious how it would work though. Would a crossed market be displayed? So if you send a 1.50 offer on an option to the CBOE, and there is a 1.50 bid on the PHLX, would you see a crossed market if the CBOE didn't...

Lightspeed Order Flow Finra Violation Dissappointment, Suggestions?

This hasn't been the case for me (trading options). If I direct route a sell to the CBOE, but there is a bid for the option at the PHLX, the order will be sent to the PHLX if the CBOE MM's don't want to fill at that price. I will then pay an extra "linkage" fee charged by the CBOE along with...

    Option strikes

This is no longer the case. The CBOE will no longer accept new strike requests from customers, you now must request through your broker and the broker will make the request. This change was made about a year ago. I have also found that they are much less likely now to approve these requests...

Cboe to Extend Global Trading Hours for VIX and SPX Options to 24/5

Currently the only retail broker I know of that offers full access to this overnight session is Interactive Brokers. Hopefully along with expanding the trading hours, the CBOE will persuade other firms to offer access.

Best brokerages for active algorithmic trading

It may, some platforms may add a tack on fee per contract/share. There is also different monthly fees. So you may have different rates at the same firm with different platforms.

Best brokerages for active algorithmic trading

I can't answer a lot of these questions, but I would suggest you should be looking at different platforms that may meet your needs along with brokers. For example I currently use Dash Prime. I have a choice of 15 or so platforms. Some of these may meet your needs and others won't. If you find...
