Jesse Livermore predicted today's markets 80 years ago

He would probably also be a big futures and commodities speculator.

    Swing Traders: TIF?

Great Analysis, I love the weekly charts. I also agree with your assessment. A simple look at the fibs shows TIF has almost retraced to the 78.6% level of the Oct 07 to Apr 09 Move. In that move the May 08 resistance was very solid. I will put TIF in on my short watch list. Thanks.

    Swing Traders: TIF?

Now my cold has cleared up in my nose, so I will add some. Some other reasons for the breakout is price has almost slid sideways in March on low volume. This often precipitates volatile moves in either direction. Then there is Tiffany. The perception is zero interest rates help out firms who...

    Swing Traders: TIF?

What’s not to see? Price broke above the mid January resistance. Some shorts were probably still hiding there and used covered buys. Then others jumped in on the buying and drove the price up. This happens all the time. But will it hold up? Who knows? That you will have to figure out.

    The Stigma of Daytrading Lives

Welcome newly retired. I’m oldly retired. You should have more fun with than saying you’re a daytrader. I tell them I am in the “Import Business” (making profits trading Chinese stocks). And if I sat in my chair the way you do. I can hear my wife now quoting the ‘Christmas Story’...

"95% of traders fail within the first 6 months"

Full time traders are akin to professional sports players. Take as an example a professional football player. Professional football players do not “appear” on the pro-team over-night. These players like full time traders have suffered through years of set backs and rejections on their road...

Boy Who Cried Bear Says We Are Going Down

You are probably right about the lost part. For years now I have been reading these market prediction threads. They so often fade into the wallow into mud slinging, back stabbing, innuendo tossing, character slams, ethnic or racial taunts and personality bashes between ET’ers. I did not...

    Through the Looking Glass

RN, you do a fantastic job of poking around the human psyche for traders. I will be first in line to buy your book on the subject when it comes out.

    just position trading

Trading is a lot about turning dollars over to make profits to keep that account balance high enough to trade again after withdrawals. Many traders are driven towards day trading to get that turn over because they are under funded. I have traded 20+ years (+20 prior as an investor) with...

TradeStation slippage parameter for NYSE stocks with >1M volume

I did some checking and the raw data for the study was deleted back in 2008. Apparently I thought in was no longer current so I trashed it. Some of the other info I still remember. My automation is for 80% swing trading in the Daily time interval with the remainder intraday. So the vast...

    I hate IB

Hello schizo, Here is some dull reading that explains in depth what I wrote in my post from a U.S. Gov website: http://www.occ.treas.gov/moneylaundering2002.pdf Below are quotes from these rules from the U.S. Government that are given to bankers and brokers. They should give you more...

    I hate IB

Before I retired I spent 25 years in the financial industry. Today it is a nightmare compared to 10 years ago. Don’t blame IB - blame congress. Right after 911 congress passed the PATRIOT Act and the Homeland Security Act that ---- up brokerages, banks and our “rights”. The U.S...

    Fall you turd.

I didn’t get “fall you turd” at first, but now I do. You think Uncle Ben will give market an enema this week. I had no idea you thought the markets were constipated. Do you think he will stuff the interest rate syringe up the markets ass?

TradeStation slippage parameter for NYSE stocks with >1M volume

I did a study back in 2006 and early 2007 for my automated trading for 23 stocks trading over million shares a day where all stocks were priced over $20 a share at the start of trading. This was a low volatility environment for the most part back then. Here is the table I built. Price...

How I stopped making the same mistakes in 2010 and started to make more money

Hello Thinkfirst, You have an enjoyable thread to read and have the best supporting cast of traders giving you posts that ET has to offer. I believe your trading is on the right track even with the few nasty trades you mention. I like your spirit that you came right back from them. I have...
