    Swing/Position Trades

yikes, acrt is scary to me. I wouldn't touch it going either direction right now. It was poised to go down yesterday and it did. Now the futures are down big pre-market, so If I was already short I would be looking to cover on a drop this morning. If I was long, well, I would have been stopped...

    IB or Tradestation

Tradestation does not not do options except by telephone order and it sucks. If you do equity options you can't do tradestation.

    beginner stocks

do a screen to find highly liquid stocks with low volatility and small spreads, i.e. listed stocks where there is no level 2. If you must do nasdaq look at MSFT.

    DOW Crashing ?!

I think you are talking about the FOMC ( Federal Open Market Committee ) that operates completely in secret and deals with the big money center banks. I know that they deal in currencies, debt instruments, and the gold market, but I don't know about stocks. I can't prove it, but I think they...

    overnight trading

I've had trades buying calls on XAU and holding overnight recently. I'm thinking of doing it today if it holds up in the last hour.

    Sleepless Nights

My only complaint is that it is slower than windows 2000. 98, 98SE, and ME ( especially ) freeze a little to often for use as a trading platform in my opinion. As for Mac, well I like Mac OS X but there just isn't enough native OS X software out there yet.

    Swing/Position Trades

ok, this is bud fox to gordon gecko.......blue horshoe loves to SHORT CBT......Long term downtrend that hasn't been broken, and a recent pop up only on the settlement of a lawsuit, the pop is over, big gap immediately below, make 5 pts in a week.

    overnight trading

I have done much better with overnight positions and 2-3 day holds than daytrades. I would ask the question as to how a person can have good consistency and make money on an annual basis as a daytrader in this market.

    Base Salary + Payout

by the way, prop traders at big firms are real W2 employees, get a base salary that is enough to survive in Manhattan, put up none of their own money, trade accounts of many millions, make their own hours and get 7-12% of their trading profits as a bonus at the end of the year. And Goldman alone...

4:1 margin is also enough to go broke with in about 2 days.

    Base Salary + Payout

all the top firms still have thousands of prop traders. It takes credentials and personal connections to get in, a track record isn't good enough. They would rather hire 10 harvard MBA's knowing that 7 will blow out of the biz than hire 10 experienced traders with good track records. Its crazy...

    DOW Crashing ?!

I have already resigned myself to the idea that the nasdaq is going to slowly fade into a market of single digit stocks that most funds don't want to own. The trick is to figure out whether the Dow 30 will get dragged down along with everything else. I think the jury is still out.

    NVDA - short no more!

yeah, that's the bottom line here I think, general market conditions are not favoring the holding of support levels. Also the relative strength has taken a nosedive. I was burned on EMC earlier this year because I had been trading the tops and bottoms of a trading range on a swing trade time...

    Sleepless Nights

I'm not a big index trader, but I have been trading the XAU lately. At first I was just taking a position, but the morning runs up and down have turned my positions into overnight trades 3 times in the last week. Lots of action in the first hour and the last hour. Fairly good inverse...

Will single stock futures replace stocks?

What is the point ? We already have index futures, and we have options on individual stocks. We have 4x margin buying power even for small retail accounts. If a person wants to hedge a long stock position they can buy puts or sell calls. What problem will these things solve ? Who will want them ?

Question for an investor type on TVX

the bank of japan started supporting the dollar last week, and the fed has started selling gold directly to money center banks that are heavily short gold to reduce the short squeeze. I think that explains the bad week for gold stocks. I'm bullish on gold for the longer term though because...

Prechter's case for a bear market...

I've never heard abbey or anybody from any investment bank say to sell anything. surely they would be fired. Much more profitable to lie to the public.
