Trump Orders 737-Max Grounding.... Buying LUV puts.

Its actually extremely common for modern aircraft to be marginally stable (I actually did my graduate work in non-linear/adaptive control systems for aircraft/missiles), but the fact that a single subsystem failure can result in a crash is unthinkable. I have a hard time believing that Boeing...

Trump Orders 737-Max Grounding.... Buying LUV puts.

I'm just rationalizing...because I didn't do any actual analysis: My initial thought was Boeing puts, but they're very expensive. As for the stock closing green...the news didn't seem to start hitting the "mainstream" media until around an hour before the close, and the options weren't any more...

Trump Orders 737-Max Grounding.... Buying LUV puts.

I suspect the stock will drop, thus I'm long OTM puts. Whats your play selling? Thinking volatility will drop with this announcement? I got the 47.5 put long @ $0.10. So, with an uptick in IV tomorrow, I'll make a couple hundred percent return :) .... Its gambling, I know... but I was...

Trump Orders 737-Max Grounding.... Buying LUV puts.

Only 4% of SWs fleet operates the MAX....but people are irrational, so I figured I put a few coins on the table to see if I can get a couple hundred percent return in a few days.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/pilot-of-crashed-ethiopian-airlines-jet-reported-flight-control-problems-11552473593?mod=hp_lead_pos1 I just bought some outside the money PUTs on LUV (southwest airlines), which is the largest U.S operator of 737-MAX aircraft.

How did this happen ? Partial fill when it should have printed all

I'm not too smart on option market micro-structure, but I could see this happening if the bid was split across multiple exchanges or multiple sellers. For example, you got 4 lots from Exchange A, than someone fast moved their order off Exchange B after your initial fill hit the tape...

    CME equity micro contracts coming

Technically speaking, it would be stat-arb, not a true arb.

    CME equity micro contracts coming

I don't trade gold (didnt even know there was a mini), and didn't/don't anticipate the opportunities to last for more than a tick or two (i.e only the HFT MMs could take it advantage of it). Intuitively though, I would expect there to be a lead/lag relationship between GC & MGC. I could be...

also... I wonder how much the market makers are going to make on the mini to micro arbitrage....

    CME equity micro contracts coming

Just saw that they are having the same pip sizes as the 'Minis...this will help. The currency minis/micros have a larger pip size, i.e higher spread price. That will help. But I STILL dont like that they will have two ways to essentially trade the exact same product...I wish they'd just get...

Probably going to be trash, just like the currency minis/micros

When they find the real ET/aliens, is it going to be bullish or bearish for markets?

$22M pentagon program? The pentagon can't take a piss for less than $22M...let alone have a "UFO program".

How could simons keep his strategy secret for so long?

It can be done, if the inputs are known, it's called SystemID. It's just not easy, especially when the signal to noise ratios are so low, as they are in the markets.

How could simons keep his strategy secret for so long?

My main point is... you dont know what inputs they're using...price isn't the only story. Thus, even if you had their trades... you couldn't do anything with them. Its an observability issue.

How could simons keep his strategy secret for so long?

Can you really? I highly doubt it. Maybe if you knew what the inputs into their models are as well...but only the trades? You should be able to accomplish the EXACT same thing by looking at the tape...but you cant. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Observability

Anyone use anything else than time based charts for day trading?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned "information driven bars". Marcos Lopez de Prado covers them in his financial machine learning book (not a great overview...but suffecient, if you've never used something like this). There are an infinite variety of information driven bars, but the premise...

E-Micro ES S&P 500 micro futures, what ever happened to it?

Why not just trade index ETFs if you don't like the full $12.50 per tick? Liquidity in the micros is turrible.
