    Hard core frugal livin' traders

I remember when I was about 25 years old I lived in a house with four other guys and my share of rent was about $ 90 / month. I recall my girlfriend saying that I was the only person that she knew that had $ 10,000. I did not have debt then. I lived mostly on spaghetti and cheap food. I...

how much degree does our markets affect yours

The SP500 index follows the Shanghai index change about 46 % (1098 out of 2381 daily data elements) of the time. I am comparing about 9 years daily adjusted closing index values for GSPC (Standard And Poors 500 index) and Shanghai SSE composite index.

Paul Tudor Jones - Failure Speech June 2009

The following quote reminds me of "Reminiscences Of A Stock Operator": "The next time the dragon of failure reared his ugly head was in 1978. I was working in New Orleans for one of the greatest cotton traders of all time, Eli Tullis. Now, New Orleans is an unbelievable city. It has the...

Sheriff Sale does anyone know how they work.

I live in Florida. Your state may have different rules. I remember about June 2008 my neighbors and myself attending foreclosure proceedings involving some properties near our homes. The process was fast and efficient with representatives of banks that likely held the mortgages buying foreclosed...

How can one ride the coattails of Goldman-Sachs

"a surge in revenues from trading foreign currency, bonds and fixed-income products has sent profits at Goldman Sachs soaring, according to insiders at the firm." Some trading at Goldman Sachs might be the retail distribution of corporate and government bonds. In other words, XYZ Corp. needs...

    PC Humming noice at startu

I think changing power supplies is pretty easy. I recall only one screw holding it in place and disconnect a couple cables. Might cost about $ 100 for a new power supply. You might remove the power supply, open the power supply case and vacuum it out. I suspect there is nothing wrong with...

    Trend following equity curve

Are you using intraday price data? I am not able to reproduce your results using 3 years of daily price data for United States Steel stock symbol X. Are you sure your calculations are good? I don't observe greater than 400 trades even with a very short term system.

Linear regression fit of stock prices

You might also be interested in the linear regression indicator. http://www.dailyfx.com/charts/Chart.html (see attachment). I notice it is possible to add multiple linear regression indicators with different time constants to the chart and identify crossovers.

Advice for a high school grad about to enter college

I suspect much depends on the high school graduate's own drive and determination to become part of this business. How he contacts people, how he identifies potential employers and his willingness to live far from home to attain a job might all play a role in a hiring decision...

I am puzzled by the news reports of a "UK negative watch". I interpret Gilt future contract prices to be in an upward trend and British Pound future contract prices might be changing to upward trend. I associate such currency and Gilt price behavior as evidence of a growing economy. Graphs are...
