    Arbing SSF's

Enjoying the thread so far. I imagine it would be all but impossible to arb the SSF's. MM's in the SSF's are looking at the underlying stock price constantly.

    Action Alerts Plus

It seems to me that Jim Cramer has a hell of deal with his action alerts plus. He buys/sells a stock, tells his subscribers to do the same, then the subscribers move the stock in Cramers favor. I myself am not a subscriber and can't imagine why anyone else would be either. Does anyone here...

    Capitalist Pig sues J. Cramer

Hoenig has every right to sue Cramer. Typical loudmouth Cramer fashion of screaming off something. I think Dr. Z said it best when he said Reg FD shut Cramer down. I'm a big fan of Hoenig. Wish he would write more often.

    Short-selling faces clampdown by SEC

Actually, the article is correct. There is a gov. agency named Farmer Mac. They finance loans on agriculture. www.farmermac.com

    susquehanna group

They're a force, no doubt and anyone that says they're not is a fool. Again, I don't work for them. But people have told me that when they start trading, the option pits pay attention. Also, knew a guy that used to work in NY for a major BB inv. bank. According to him, Susq. buying/selling can...

    susquehanna group

I don't work for them. But well respected on Wall Street. I doubt they are doing much hiring. Also, tend to hire straight out of college. They look for exceptionally bright people (ie Math SAT 750 +). Mainly market makers in stock and equity options. Good luck getting an interview.

    How does ISE function ?

Not positive about this, but I think there were some traders that did this awhile back and got in a lot of trouble. May want to approach this one with some caution.

    Trading equities vs. ES/NQ'S

All the former equity day traders jumped on over. That's why they've grown so much in volume. If you look at their growth, it occured while the nasdaq was dragging along.

I Done Bought Me a SSF!

Do SSF's get the 60/40 tax treatment like other futures? Thanks

Agreed. A custom ET indicator would be interesting. So how about it ET?

    Market Maker Collusion

I'd like to make sure I understand what you mean by collusion. By definition, isn't collusion two or more people talking and agreeing to set prices in a less competitive way? It seems that MM's playing games on the level 2 is not collusion. I agree it is unethical and wrong, but not collusion. IMHO.

    Market Maker Collusion

I agree that 1x1's are horrible. What kind of liquidity is that. At the same point, I'm wondering if such a small size is a sign that the specialist himself doesn't know what's going on? Is there anything to be inferred from such a small market? Anyone trade off this? Just wondering.

    Exchange trade call back

What kind of size are you trading on these busted equity trades? Isn't everything under 1100 shares on the the NYSE an automatic, electronic execution?

    Is market data ridiculously expensive?

Exchanges don't give the data away. It's profitable since they have to report it to users anyway, so users keep using the exchange. Also, there are some costs associated with running a business and distributing it. But I agree with you, it' very expensive.

    Dividend Refund for Canadian Traders

I think you have to pay the tax here, since this is where it was "earned". Avoiding double taxation depends on the canadian government. They may wave the taxation since it was already taxed here. At least that how they do it in the states. Hope this helps.

Level 2 Tricks vs. True Intention

Thats pretty much what you would expect as well. An MM who wants to buy or sell needs to get in the market, so they should post 1000 shares in order to start accumulating it. Smaller than that would never allow them to accumulate enough stock for their clients. If they really had less than 1000...

Open Outcry--Routing directly to the pit

Generally when they say pit routing, it means to a broker in the pit with an electronic hand held or some other electronic device. But this also depends on which contract your trading. It's a lot quicker sending, executing, as well as reporting the trade back to you.
