How to create my own index

I tested Neoticker and doing this was very easy but I couldn't get used to their user interface. I eventually settled on Ninjatrader & more recently Tradestation. I never did make my custom index in either of those. I started focusing on the indexes and commodities. Sorry I couldn't be of...

Do you use 24hr or RTH data for your trading?

I may not have phrased my question precisely.. what I mean is even if you only trade during RTH, do you set your charts to have 24 hour data or just the RTH data? For example if looking at an MACD for divergences, you could get different results depending on if you use 24hr or RTH.

What timeframe do you use for gold charts?

I'm mainly interested in gold but the question if valid for other metals as well. I'm curious what data people are using for their charts. Using gold as an example, if I use only the US NYMEX hours then this wouldn't take into account the european hours. Since gold is traded globally, I...

Do you use 24hr or RTH data for your trading?

I'm not sure if I want to use 24hr data or regular trading hours (9:00 - 2:30 EST) data for my swing trading. I've tried both and I see advantages and disadvantages of using both. Depending on which I use the candlesticks are different and also divergences are different, often a sine in one...

Why Gold has to go down...

Why do you want physical? The leverage is much better with paper and there are no delivery or storage costs. I think oil is far more likely to double in value than gold. This is just one example.

Why Gold has to go down...

It just seems strange to me to diversify by purchasing something that has increased almost 400% over the last 8 years. It just seems unsustainable to me. I would prefer to buy something that has been suppressed such as land as you mention.

Why Gold has to go down...

Gold tied its July high today (well within a point, depending on how your continuous contract is). This is a key point. Should be resistance. Gold has had an incredible run up, I doubt it'll make it through the resistance on the first try so I'm looking for a pullback here.

THERE IS RISK OF LOSS IN FUTURES TRADING. Those using this information are responsible for their own actions.

Why Gold has to go down...

Did any of you read any of the analysis that we posted in the Gold's Action forum? There are three of them. it's not a question of just being contrarian and shorting gold. It's a question of studying all information available including the charts. The bearish divergences on the chart tell...

Why Gold has to go down...

Interesting thread, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one shorting gold. I just wrote up a detailed analysis of the monthly, weekly, and daily timeframes in the Gold's Action thread, here's a link: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=127353&perpage=6&pagenumber=168...

The Phallusy of the Hershey PV Relation

I'm a software development professional (Enterprise Architect). I've developed with Java for 9 years now. I develop my strategies with Ninjatrader in C#. I'm pretty new to automated trading, I strated trading my first system live in December. I now autotrade several systems and I have a...

The Phallusy of the Hershey PV Relation

I'm a programmer as well and what I don't get is that you can have a few bars that are 'off' but still have the gaussians. I haven't tried programming it though. Ok I understand now that your threads are more about humor. I don't really have time for that but I wish you well with it and...

The Phallusy of the Hershey PV Relation

When I realized that flaws & ftt could only be determined in hindsight. I did learn a lot from the SCT phase and I can say it does help me with what I do now. I just use other tools.

Indicators are liars! Support and Resistance Trading for the S&P emini

Thanks for your insights on moving pivots. This is what I've been leaning towards but I'm still new at pivots. I guess I haven't been updating them as often as I should. Everything you say makes sense to me so I'm going to try updating them daily. Thanks

Indicators are liars! Support and Resistance Trading for the S&P emini

Sometimes I find price reacts to the pivot and then maybe a few days later it'll drive through it but stop a few points higher. Let's say pivot is at 900. Price reacts to this and turns back and then maybe continues through. A few days later price doesn't react to 900 but to 910. Should...

The Phallusy of the Hershey PV Relation

I dropped out of SCT after about 6 months. But let's be honest here. You say you tested a fundamental part of SCT and you show the results. But you don't describe anything about your test. If this is a serious thread trying to prove or disprove a part of SCT then I'm interested. But we...

    Trading NQ With Simplified SCT

I always thought SCT was too complicated and too subjective. Unfortunately it took me a year to find that out. So I'm interested to know what is the main idea here? I read that PV is the main idea but I have no idea how you're coming up with your criteria to be long or short. How about a...

Indicators are liars! Support and Resistance Trading for the S&P emini

Hi ESR, After a long break from daytrading, I've began monitoring ES lately and I have a few questions about your pivots and I hope you can share a bit of your process with me. 1. When do you move pivots? I ask because I've been trying to apply the same concept to other futures that I...
