I agree with this and have always thought so. In fact I used that argument about all that’s known is priced in, as a Financial advisor before I retired, to sho clients why they are better off in index funds than trying to pick stocks because “I think their product is great, blah, blah blah”...

agree with everything you said. But at the same time, I think when I see a stock breaking out of a long tight stage one base, it’s got a better chance of a long stage 2 run, if they are growing revenues, and or earnings at a high rate

I don’t like using upside targets, it limits gains. I generally will take some off on a quick 10%, maybe 15% gain, to reduce risk. Other than that, I don’t like limiting upside but will watch support lines. On the downside, another matter altogether.
