    Your profit for 2006

The difference is, with prop leverage, there is no "real" accurate way to determine ones rate of return. For example, a prop trader may initially deposit a mere $5K to receive anywhere from 100-500K buying power. If a trader with 5K of his own money in his account with BP of 500K earns 100K in...

Ah, another internet tough-guy, apparently with a prediliction for latent homosexual acts of violence. You really lend alot of credibility to yourself. Do your bosses at esignal approve of such language?

How about this one? If I took your head, and bashed it into your keyboard a few hundred times, thereby causing YOU to execute losing trades, would you still be ultimately responsible? Or would you be pointing out reasons why the situation was out of your control?

A workman does blame his tools when they're broken. A carpenter can't hammer in a nail properly if his hammer is broken. It in no way affects his skill as a carpenter to have a broken hammer. It affects his ability to get his job done. If the carpenter continues to have problems with the same...

My methodology, spike, involves using precise entry points to limit my risk. My entries are price sensitive, not time. 8 seconds lag has less to do with it than displaying wrong prices. Wrong prices mean improper entry which means getting stopped out quicker which means losing trades...

You're right, trader28, you must know everything. I suppose there is no possible situation where this could occur. I trade off of charts, jagoff, so when i think i'm buying a confirmed breakout, the stock has actually failed to break out, i'm buying on the way down and then get stopped on my...

    NYSE/AMEX pre/after mkt hours question

Usually, GTC orders apply to regular trading hours as far as being reflected. I don't use IB so I don't know how they display orders but you may want to look for a time in force called, "day+". those orders will last until midnight of the day u placed the order. hope that helps

Trading on material nonpublic information by the big guys

well than maybe you just should have titled the post, "wah, i lost money". The point I was trying to make is that no system is fool-proof. Bottom-fishing, knife-catching, or anything else you want to call it can be dangerous as you found out today. Your "metrics" might not be fool-proof...

i picked up some shares of it at the close and will hold it for a while. Sounds like you and ur day-trading buddies decided to try to catch the falling knife and got cut. Sorry to hear that. Did u take a look at the daily chart of this stock? It has lost over 50% in the past 3-4 weeks...

    Going for prop money

There is nothing wrong with prop trading, even if they are opening shops in 3rd world countries and no, it is not dead. lol. However, many of the "methods" used by prop shops are are no longer relavent or profitable. The problem with these shops is that they "taught" traders ONE way to make...

    Going for prop money

all you are effectively accomplishing is learning a way to churn commissions for your firm. Being a "liquidity/rebate trader" is an outdated model with very little upside. Sure some guys make money at it, becuz they haven't learned how to do anything else. Get out now while you can and find a...
