    IB Margin?!

I don't think you need to be as concerned about that for a margin call with IB. Per my understanding, if you fall within PDT rules you need to be concerned with the Equity with Loan Value being 25,000 or greater to avoid margin calls.

Anyone know of any reason (besides just maybe the Obama sweep tonight, but seems far fetched) for the ES to be as active as it is from about 10:15 EST to 11:30? I haven't seen anything - not a huge move per se but does seem fairly active for this time of night.

    "Watch out for the Quants"

I can't believe that the credit suisse guy would say that, but I guess he did. Are the quants running trading? Yes. Can you compete with them? Yes if you are careful. My assumption based on my experience in the business is that the majority of the "quants" are trend followers. They...

Open E Cry raises ES margins from $500 to $2250

I would rather have higher margins and know the firm will not go under as the result of other traders levering up too much than have them too low. I had an account at velocity back when they had trouble in August. It's easy enough to lose money trading, I don't need my futures firm to do it...

    Cramer just called the bottom

tetuan01 It wasn't a bottom. The market would have ended deep in the red if not for the news of the fed bailing out bonds around 2:30 this afternoon. Cramer didn't call crap. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I didn't say it was a...

    Cramer just called the bottom

I cannot believe I am doing this but am going to play devil's advocate. For the record, I cannot stand Cramer. However. I have access to the real money.com website because I like to see what some of the guys on there have to say. Cramer actually called the bottom on the daily blog they...

I didn't hear it but someone posted that Hillary just said the PPT is working in the debate tonight and futures immediately responded. Fwiw.

While this is certainly ugly action, does anyone smell any hint of short hedgies pressing on the day the US exchanges are closed? I have no idea what the rest of today and tomorrow brings, but the odds for Tuesday morning rate cut must have just increased substantially. It just seems with the...

    big double spike this morning??

No joke - the most recent one has nothing on the overnight! I just made the comment because I assumed from the title of the thread being a "double spike" it was also referring to the most recent. Nasty games going on out there!

Anyone else find the lack of volume on ES YM or NQ this afternoon interesting in light of all the moves today? Makes me curious is some big funds have been whipped around so much they are out of the game right now.

It seems to me the markets are moving off the ECB's record injection - feels like it could fuel some upside fire especially depending on what GS reports and how it acts.

    Clueless Bernanke Blows It Again

No expert here but have been following this stuff for several years so will give my thoughts. I was surprised that the discount rate wasn't cut by more than it was yesterday. Not terrible surprising that the ff was only 25 bps. But I started thinking last week, when ECB didn't cut, that...
