While I agree with your "ralleye" thesis, it seems as if there is a lot of money chasing performance right now. The fact that TYC is able to raise its convertible offering and the stock is holding would lead me to believe there is a lot of money pouring in.

Or maybe it's just traders who have preserved enough capital to start this year on a strong note.

I mainly trade NASDAQ stocks looking for intraday breakouts and breakdowns and I saw more follow through and wider ranges than I have seen in a long time. The moves in some of the momentum stocks reminded me of 3 years ago.

Before you blame IB, you might want to check out the NASD regulation which states that the minimum maintenance for shorting any stock trading $5 and above is $5 or 30% whichever is greater.

They also do not recieve information from your broker on what you paid for a stock, so just like options it is up to you to tell them of the transaction. You could tell them whatever you want, but I would hate to explain to an examiner during an audit why those option trades on the brokerage...

While I agree that the PDT is harmful to small investors and that the government has no right to tell me how I can use my money, I think you need to develop a better understanding of why the rule is in place. The PDT was not put in place to hurt small traders it is there to protect them...

#1 If you take a look at T/S you will notice that your stop was triggered when the stock traded at 28.34 after that there were only two 100 shr trades above 28.3 and then the stock dropped below your 28.3 limit. I would guess your limit would not have been filled regardless of who your broker...

I have not looked into SSF's, but I noticed there was about a .40-.50 difference between MO stock and MO future at the end of the day. What was that spread like when the news hit and did you notice much of a change in that spread as the day went on?
