Tomorrow is indeed St. Crispin's Day. It is indeed Saint Crispin's Day. To the ending of the world. "All things be ready if our minds be so".

"God for Harry, England, and Saint George!" Best post I've seen regarding current conditions, without a doubt. Thank you my good man.

    Tomorrow....

Some guy did a study using live participants to simulate market behavior. He found that people tend to ignite a bubble, then deflate, then ignite a smaller one, and then they get wise after that. And I suppose that the tendency would repeat each generation.

Whats it like in NYC or on Wall Street?

I work right down on Wall st., and you'd probably be disappointed. Aside from the odd low-energy picket in front of the NYSE, it's more or less business as usual. Inside the exchange is a different story, but outside: you wouldn't necessarily think anything was up if you didn't know already...

    For the love of god

That would be nice, but it's been a long time since the government has done anything in my favor, so I'm not going to bet on it. but again, it would be nice...

    For the love of god

I'm surprised they haven't reinstated the short-sale ban. I'm more afraid of the government's reaction to the sell-off, than the sell-off itself.

The USD/JPY turning around or at least stabilizing, will indicate that the yen carry trade has finished most of its unwinding. That might be an important bottom indicator in this case.

    VIX at 60

As far as I know, the VIX has NEVER been at 60 - isn't it a new record, the previous record being only 47, set in 1987, 2001, 2002? Correct me if I'm wrong...

    Bernanke: dumb as rocks

I don't understand why people think the Fed - or the federal government, for that matter - is trying to help them.

    Bernanke: dumb as rocks

Is the stock market the only element of the economy? Keep in mind that I'm not defending Bernanke - but I don't think he's stupid. I think the Fed's doing exactly what it intends to do, and their goals are not aligned with yours or mine.

You owe it to yourself to educate yourself on what is happening

So, even if the supply were not controlled, it would still be finite, and that's where the problem (that I described) comes in. So, "The Mystery of Banking" (I don't know what that is, but I'll look it up) goes into this problem? I'd be interested to hear what they say, because it seems like a...
