    OJ/ Coffee Random Musings

Brazil is harvesting the largest coffee crop on record? Not so sure on the coffee. I like the potential for OJ with the hurricane season expected to be above average and all.

    Corn Crash!

Problems in Argentina have a bullish effect on the soybean market - like today with news of more strikes in Buenos Ares driving the market up despite slow sales numbers for beans. If the strike is resolved quickly then beans from Argentina return to the market as an alternative to U.S. beans...

    Ideas for struggling traders

I think most new traders fail because they don't understand risk of ruin and money management. Accounts in the small range 5-20 k are difficult to trade because the risk of ruin is high. Many trading professionals advocating for risking less than 2% on any given trade. Given this fact...

    OJ/ Coffee Random Musings

probably local floor traders getting the best of some market orders. The bid ask spreads in the softs seem to be always shitty compared to the grains.

    Livestock Options

Why not sell a condor and collect the premium that way. At least your risk is limited. I'm short the 96 puts and looking to cover as a spread. I like selling options but think there are ways with less risk than selling straddles.

My high school summer job: trading the NQ

I think just about every trader can tell you their going broke stories. The trick is to learn from them. Even some of the best have blown out multiple times.

    Corn Crash!

I think we will see new crop dec corn trade in the 575-700 range through harvest. Crop size is still decent regardless of flooding and ethanol plants are shutting down until the prices fall. As far as what is responsible for what who knows. I think the ethanol mandates which i agree are...

My high school summer job: trading the NQ

not to sound like a prude. But honestly we all know that objectifying women and treating them like shit really doesn't bring anyone happiness in the end. If that is all life is about is money and getting laid it really isn't worth living.

    Corn Crash!

could be. I've heard the sewage concerns. I don't know about the USDA being a complete group of baffoons but I think you can argue corn has a degree of resiliency other crops do not.

    Fundamentals

Since the explosion in wheat last feb/mar wheat has been a schizophrenic contract. This lumbering giant used to move thousands of contracts around a few cent range now it's more fun to watch than anything else. Rumors are the great short in the spring wheat squeeze was the Canadian...

    Bean Bounce

Any thoughts on a bean bounce and run. Ending stocks look tight and there are some calls for a hot and dry August. Just in time for pod filling.

    Corn Crash!

down big again on the overnight. Should be a fun open today. Wonder if we will open limit down for the second day in a row.

CBOT "losing" your stop market orders

I've had similar experiences in the grains. They were primarily my fault as I presumed by stops would carry over to the overnight and they didn't. I've learned the hard way. I close out my positions if I can't be there. I work another job as well so i've switched to shorting theta in...

    Livestock Options

i was filled on some short selling of live cattle augie 96 puts relatively easy today. Most of my hosing on bid asks comes from the NY softs. The meats and grains are generally pretty decent in volume.

    Corn Crash!

Nice cover on the corn. Looks like demand has dried up from the ethanol houses. Can't make money in ethanol unless corn trades below 634. The margins just aren't there. Thoughts on the flood. I don't know about the flood being that damaging. Corn is resilient. Stalks can be underwater...

    OJ/ Coffee Random Musings

Does anybody know how deep the option decks are in OJ. i was trying to sell Sep 1050 puts all day @ 80. The bid ask was 65-130. Granted it's a relatively thin soft deck but come on. No locals willing to nap a put @80.

My high school summer job: trading the NQ

Hey kid. Good luck with it. You've got some balls. I'm the principal of a private Catholic School and have previously worked on the floor of the CBOT. I trade ag and soft options with time decay spreading strategies. We teach a futures class every year at my high school. You might like the...
