Trading with a Health Savings Account? Possible? Anyone do it?

I currently have MVP healthcare as the insurance provider. You can use whoever you want that is available in your part of the country. Just make sure it is a HSA compatible plan (HDHP). I always make sure my plan is HSA compatible even if the premium is slightly more. I more than make up for it...

Trading with a Health Savings Account? Possible? Anyone do it?

I trade my HSA at Fidelity. Only problem is it can't qualify for 'Limited Margin' capability. So if you're actively trading stocks, you need to wait 2 days for cash to settle before making a new purchase. One interesting way to overcome this is by trading Rydex or Profunds mutual funds. You can...

How much do you pay your CPA?

I pay for my main CPA $1,500. I feel he is a bit overpriced but I've used him for the past 15 years and there is a comfort level. My returns are a bit complicated as there are 3 different LLCs and a K1 from a trading partnership (but the K1 is done by another specialist CPA). Even if I switched...

    Move from CA to TX

In the past when my business was running on all cylinders I was routinely paying close to 6 figures in NY state income tax. Now that my business has been in decline its funny how motivations change. I don't really mind living in a nanny state as I get closer to retirement.

What would you buy Las Vegas townhouse/condos or Boeing stocks??

Water behind the Hoover dam is at record low levels. Once that's gone Las Vegas is gone. Its too risky for a long term buy and hold, in my opinion.

What is the optimal portfolio allocation (%) to naked options?

in CSP you are not using any margin or leverage. It's a conservative strategy, or so they say.

What is the optimal portfolio allocation (%) to naked options?

I going to start doing a cash-secured put strategy in my account in the near future once I feel comfortable with backtesting results. Initially I plan to allocate about 2.5% of my overall portfolio to it. And if it goes well maybe increase to 5%. I am calculating it as fully assigned value...

Only fools buying into the hype of the skyrocketing housing market

Those numbers are readily available but I have seen new homeowners just focus on the total monthly outlay. You'd be amazed how stupid the vast majority of people are. They might be doctors or professionals and book smart but when it comes to their personal finances they are just clueless.

Only fools buying into the hype of the skyrocketing housing market

dishonest realtors play on the naivite of the first time buyers. They focus on the total monthly outlay and fail to mention what part of that is the property tax. First time buyers are mostly emotion driven sheeple.

Only fools buying into the hype of the skyrocketing housing market

Idiots from NYC are thinking its a great deal. Relatively to their rents maybe.

Only fools buying into the hype of the skyrocketing housing market

There's a reason homes are priced that way in this area. The property taxes are massive.

Small stops, large size VS. large stops, small size?

Its not really an index play, although it may sound like it. It is simply a collection of short term systems (mostly intraday) that each try to pick up on different market anomalies. Some are long only systems, some are short only, and some long/short. I set the allocation to each system with an...

Small stops, large size VS. large stops, small size?

Somewhere around 200 positions. Positions need to be low or negatively correlated. Overall portfolio should be somewhat market neutral.

    Collectible Cars

I remember back in 2009/2010 recession, classic Porsche 911's from the 1970s were relatively cheap - you could have bought a reasonable condition one for below $20k. This recession, not really - there seems to be less desperation to sell. Even the lowly 914's are selling for above $20k.
