Building a track record for raising money

Great thanks. I wanted to make sure.

Building a track record for raising money

I've never been under any delusions of how difficult it would be to raise any meaningful amount of capital. What I'm really trying to get at tho, is whether I need to be audited in real time for the results to count. (Lucias based on your comments it seems you say that this isn't necessary)...

Building a track record for raising money

I imagine I would need solid returns to attract capital, but what I want to focus on is whether I can provide historical account statements to the auditors. I want to make sure that I don't need to have auditors tracking my results in real time, because that is not an expense I want to pay for...

Building a track record for raising money

I'm currently managing my own money spread across a few accounts, including 2 IRA accounts. Would it be possible for me, at some time in the future, to get my historical returns audited for the purpose of raising capital? I am not interested in raising capital now so I don't want to pay to...

I use briefing.com but I only have about 120 or so companies that I'm close to so I watch those guys closely anyway.

Seems to me you have a viable strategy here. With a strategy like this you're bound to have a big draw down when the market tanks, while outperforming the market in other periods. The fact that you are still outperforming the market materially during a year with an impressive correction is a...

Trying to make it on my own

For the most part I don't hold overnight in the core strategy. Rarely I will hold a smaller position (maybe 100k) for a second day. Then I will sometimes hold an even smaller position (around 20k) for the long term, allocating these results to the long term portofilo.

Trying to make it on my own

The month is coming along quite nicely for the core trading strategy, but very poorly for the long term strategy. Despite a typically slow month for trading, so far I'm up 47k, making very consistent profits and coming close to making money every day I trade. On the other hand, I am down 37k...

Trying to make it on my own

I haven't looked for it but it probably has the ability to do this. My concern though is that I can't help stressing about my trades (intraday) when I have them on. My goal is to detach myself from the money. Try not to make X amount of dollars every day or month or year. Focus on the...

    Bad accounting at NFLX

the accounting concerns there are primarily that they are not depreciating their acquired content purchases (which are capitalized) fast enough. If you look at capex for content acquisition for the past few quarters, it has vastly exceeded depreciation of content costs. No one really...

Trying to make it on my own

The biggest thing I need to work on is my productivity. I find it very hard to focus on my research during the day when I have significant trades on. I tend to overly obsess over how my trades are going during the day, which doesn't add any value and distracts me from my research. I have the...

Any prop firms that provide access to equity research?

Do any prop firms out there have entitlements to sell-side equity research? In particular I'm interested in US equity research on individual stocks.

Trying to make it on my own

In a way that is accurate. While during my last two months working I did spend a lot of time working on my current trading system, it is also the product of my years of experience working as an analyst. As I've said before, my system relies on using fundamental analysis to predict short term...

Trying to make it on my own

Started sending out a few resumes recently. Generally applying to some junior to mid level analyst positions on the buy-side. While I would have to take a big pay cut relative to what I expect to make trading, there are many intangible benefits for working a 'real job.' The biggest reason is...

Currently down 39k MTD, with the long term portfoilo down 25k, pairs strategy down 3k, and core trading strategy down 10k. Represents a -5.6% MTD move. The long term portfoilo's performance is consistent with the magnitude of the market correction. Since this is purely a bottom up portfoilo...
