Cramer Is Having His Ass Handed to Him

Good show. Stewart said what many of us are feeling, and it's great to see someone with more influence than ET threads calling out CNBC for the crap they have put on-air in recent years under the guise of "financial news". Frankly it's not Cramer that's the problem, it's how CNBC approaches the...

Jon Stewart Just Crucified Cramer & CNBC

Good show. Stewart said what many of us are feeling, and it's great to see someone with more influence than ET threads calling out CNBC for the crap they have put on-air in recent years under the guise of "financial news". Frankly it's not Cramer that's the problem, it's how CNBC approaches...

    GE downgrade-too late?

Yeah I think it was baked in over the past week or two. As to the "ratings cut" .....this "evaluation" comes from a rating agency --- ie the same clowns who approved the crap that got us into this global economic mess by labelling crap as gold and thusly "investment-grade." I give them less...

option strategy needed on FDA approval drug stock

Drug approval trades IMHO are a "roll the dice" trade setup - the premium is so high on the options it costs a lot to put the trade on (usually) and if you lose, you lose big quickly. IMHO drug approvals are a volatility play where either you pay thru the nose for a long vol play...

Determining directional bias with fib ratios, pivot levels, S/R lines.

I don't use any of them -- if the price chart is going from the lower left to the upper right, the trend is bullish; if the chart is going from the upper left to the lower right, the trend is bearish. Trends can be within other trends; ie you can have a bearish trend that's profitable...

    Commissions are becoming ridiclous

Hell they still do. I have a two full service brokerage accounts for my retirement portfolios and LOATHE the ludircrous fees they charge -- I think it was like 1.1% of the transaction when I sold 2500 shares of UST last year after the MO buyout was announced, and cost me something like $1120...

Indicators to measure fear and greedy ?

CNBC's US feed. The louder and shriller they get, and the more 'breaking news' blinks on your screen, the more hysterical and sensational they get to me is like a gigantic "oversold" or "overbought" (as appropriate) reading. Doing the inverse of what they say/advise is a good counter...

General Electric Corp. (GE) - Is GE Okay?

If you are looking 10-15-20 years down the road and are *not* concerned with near-term fluctuations, I think GE is a raging "buy" at these levels.

    Rating Agencies questions

Another consideration - I bet many mutual funds and pensions STILL have a policy saying they can only buy stuff with a certain rating. But will they change that arbitrary and highly-dubious policy in light of recent events? I doubt it. The sheep herd merrily on.....

    Rating Agencies questions

GE, AIG, and others are terrified of losing their credit ratings, or otherwise working to appease the credit 'rating' agencies. Given that these 'ratings' agencies played a pivotal role in the current economic crisis by approving stuff with ratings much higher than it deserved, WHO THE HELL...

    Trader Girl Forex Trades

I never found pivot points useful in my futures or fax trading, though I'm sure others will say they're indispensable. My fx charts are pretty clean - just a few linear regression lines and heiken ashi candles do it for me. That said, your advice about NOT watching the market...

    GE Cuts Dividend

You have to laugh -- from the CNBC article: "As recently as January, GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt, told CNBC that he had no plans to cut the dividend." I mean, anyone believing ANYTHING a troubled CEO is saying these days is a chump. Disclosure: I remain long GE in a variety of ways (common...

    CME e-micro futures

Maybe I missed it but I didn't see any specific mention of margin requirements for them. Not that I would be trading these - I trade the regular FX futures just fine. Guess this is the CME's way to capitalize on the retail forex craze?

Transaction Tax Bill has now been introduced

It reads like the spirit of the law is for institutions, funds, and hedgies --- and I suspect that's what it's meant to say.....but since they don't specify that distinction, it leaves the door wide open for the retail folks to feel perfectly angry this would apply to them as well, and rightly...

    Trader Girl Forex Trades

I've been in CAD/JPY since Friday -- too bad the G7 meeting didnt drop the price of the Yen ... I know lots of folks were shorting the Yen over the weekend in anticipation of something, myself included. And yeah, dead day for fx here in the States.

    AVERAGING down/up = success?

Very well said! Too many people will average down out of desparation --- and then get screwed as a result.

    AVERAGING down/up = success?

Since November I have averaged-down and -up for a few positions I care to hold for a longterm horizon of 10+ years. Price was at 17.50 when I bought my first 100, then I bought it down every $2 down to 13.50 then back up to 19.50. As a result of DCA'ing into this holding, the position is now...

Anyone out there using a Macintosh platform to trade?

Been trading off a Mac for over a year - I use VMWare running WinXP for my day trading stuff at OEC and to run tools like Ninjatrader. Absolutely no problems whatsoever.
