    Hold Bros/GreyBox API

Hi. Just wondering if anyone here has had experience in using Hold Bros.' Graybox system to implement their autotrading system(Excel-VB) How did you get off the ground being that the documentation seems to be sparse, and what support did you get from the programmers in case you got stuck...

Prop firm won't send check to close my account

I would be suprised though if he sees you. Unless you are in a JBO wherein you are a Class B member with a fully defined class structure, as opposed to one of these quasi retail shops where you act as a nominee of an account, this meeting really has no bearing other than he might be convinced...

Riskarb's combo to fly conversion journal

Riskarb was right in his strategery of diversifying names. Instead of 10 flies on 1, 1 fly on 10 names. Prevents you from focusing on 1 and letting the attractvie risk reward of the strategy take its course. I have a better game plan now. Buy the fly and turn off machine. Revisit 2 days before...

Riskarb's combo to fly conversion journal

My arrogance in thinking I can adjust an OIH condor. Had the 145/160 condor 2 days ago, had to readjust down to 35/40/45/50 now up to 145/50/55/60. .....What an ass... Lesson learned... Don't turn a limited risk spread into a spread where u can't win due to repeated adjustments. My pnl...

Prop firm won't send check to close my account

First of all syswizard, stop thinking and talking like that. There are easier ways to get your $ back. What I was talking about is that there are firms out there that put a big pot of $ (together with yours) get 4:1 Reg T margin. They allow you to trade "their" account. Contrast that with...

Prop firm won't send check to close my account

Is this pro firm you are talking about a member of an exchange like Bright,Echo or one of these pseudo retail wherein they own the account and grant you as a nominee to trade their account? If it is the latter, might be a little harder since there is less regulation less formal agreement...

    Trader P/L 2006

I feel like a little boy playing ball next to Michael Jordan. SP had a 3.5 range today and you guys ring up these numbers. Wow, I gotta get my ass in gear and try harder. Honestly.

prop firms series 7 not necessary

I don't really have contact numbers other than what is posted ad nauseum here in the pro firms section. Look at the usual suspects-Assent, Bright, Echo, Hold. If you are really averse to taking the S7, you might also consider the retail LLC's which don't require licenses and are not JBO's . The...

    Pairs Trading

Why does it suck now? Did it stop reverting? Did it stop moving at all? or did 1 of the components started to behave differently-a specialist change perhaps?

prop firms series 7 not necessary

Each JBO (i..e prop firm) by their nature has to have exch memebership . Some are mmebers of Pcoast, some are member of Chicago Stock Exch, some NASD. Each of these exchanbes have similar but not exact requirements. NASD firms I think need S7,S63. Chicago needs only S7, CBOE -nothing maybe just...

prop firms series 7 not necessary

It depends on the SRO where the JBO is regsitered. I believe firms registered in CBOe don't have S7 requirements while NASD needs S7,s63, Pcoast firms need S7,etc. NO firm rules about licensing

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

Thanks for the explanation. Just want to make sure I have not stumbled inadvertently on a holy grail. LOL. Put on a spread, be wrong , slap on a repair and still get 50:1 Risk reward. I agree with you on the versatility of repairs if you know what u are doing. BTW, risk based haircuts are...

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

I appreciate your reply. I want to make sure I understand your point. So permit me to illustrate. If I sold an OTM put vertical 4 days ago and now that the mkt is 25 ES points lower, you are saying u can button up your risk by turning the sold put vertical into a fly? I agree, have done that...

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

This is a very nice graph of a preg fly. Excellent risk reward- risk $2500 to make $97K. The issue is that you have to leg into these which assumed you will be taking delta risk on the leg. Guess right you have this graph, guess wrong and your debits balloon and the consequent payoff profile...

Riskarb's combo to fly conversion journal

Hi riskarb. Could you please explain your basic tenet of selling downside gamma and buying upside gamma curvature. I think I understand the latter part. Ex XYZ at 50, youd be buying 60 calls which is buying upside curvature, how do u sell downside curvature and why would you? Are down moves more...

    index options spread question

If you want to hedge stocks with either SPY /ES would you use 1 ES for every 500 shres of SPY? I got to that by taking last price of ES 1265 * 50=$63250/SPY Last which comes to about 500 shares. Would you do the same for the QQQQ/NQ? 1677*25 / QQQQ last= 800 shares of QQQQ. Thanks

    Expirationless options

Here is a question about the XPO's . Who would sell them? What would be the reason to sell a contract? Is this not just a glorified futures contract? like riskarb said a work around Reg T?

USB memory vs. Ext hard drive

Thanks Mr. NBBO. I really like the passport. The problem is my charting program needs a drive source/directory in order to find the data. This is where it blows up. When I plug the passport in PC1, it assigns lets say drive e:\, but when I plug into PC 2 it assigns a different letter f: or...

USB memory vs. Ext hard drive

I got a 40GB West Digital passport external HD for $119 at Best Buy. I plugged it in Pc#1, and got assigned drive e:\. I moved it to Pc # 2 and was assigned e:\. I thought, wow this seems so seamless!. I now have this charting program point to e:\ for both PC's and works great. Lo and...
