What is the average age of a trader?

According to the SEC, most pro traders are in the 30-39 age class. Second largest group being the 20-29s. The numbers are much lower but uniformally distributed in the other ages. OHLC

    IB Globex connection yesterday

I had some NQ positions stuck for about 10 minutes yesterday, due to a Globex problem, according to IB . I covered using a correlated european equity index future, but would have prefered to cover with ND directly... Is there any way for a retail trader to reach someone directly(ie : by...

What annual percentage returns do the best traders make?

What annual percentage returns do the best traders make?

My 100% figure applies mostly to professional daytraders with their trading as their main income source. The kind that keep just what is required to fit their risk management in their account and do not compound. Others with other sources of income and large assets aside can use compounding on...

What annual percentage returns do the best traders make?

If I start with $100 and make $150, that's 50% reutrn. Easy to calculate. But if I start with $25K (the required capital maintenance amount) and make $500,000 this year, my reutrn can NOT be calculated as $475,000/$25,000 = 1900% return. Any ideas? Somebody told me once that I should use...

What annual percentage returns do the best traders make?

about 150k EUR last year... You will find a LOT more top traders in equity trading than in futures trading, by the way. OHLC

What annual percentage returns do the best traders make?

Your risk management parameters are so different than the most widely accepted that no comparison can be done... The more you increase your risk, up to the optimal size, the best results you can get. The reason no one is doing this is that anyone will experience losing streaks at some point...

    London/European Stock Exchanges

I think you should forget about trading the Eurozone exchanges. The 0.5% UK tax stamp, and similar taxes on the other European stocks render this kind of trading extremely risky for the US traders. Just imagine having 40 more cts/sh commissions... In addition, the exchanges charge...

IB New lower deposits for Europe & Hong Kong (THANKS DEF!)

Depends on the timeframe you trade... 10 crtc are appropriate for 1' scalping I usually trade the FCE on either 5'/15' intraday, or short term (couple of weeks). I use a lot of money management for these kind of trades, so basically, I will just start a position with a low number of...

IB New lower deposits for Europe & Hong Kong (THANKS DEF!)

I agree, volume tends to drift to the most efficient exchanges. There are still some good points with exchanges like the MONEP. I appreciate the fact that, although this is a fast electronic exchange, I can still get someone on the floor execute me in matter of seconds, in case I loose my com...

IB New lower deposits for Europe & Hong Kong (THANKS DEF!)

Not yet ;) I have some experience with the FCE (making about 30% of my futures volume on it) and I can't think of much situations where I could use such a margin. This is just from an actual margin Vs actual value point of view. The underlying can move much more violently than the NDX, for...

    IB UK jokes

Seems like the people at IB UK have some sense of humor... Since they advertised great rates for futures, I decided to open an account there. I went through the long opening process, had to send 5 faxes to two different offices, and finally got my funds received today. Not understanding why I...

    Savings

I use to save a part of my profits for retirement/medic expenses, and so on... I used to save in the form of cash, but converted half of my account in high yielding stocks(hotels,...) after 9/11. In the meantime, I had to use the cash to buy property but I'm now wondering wether, since...

Does Bright have an intership program?

You can only guess that a substantial amount of BT revenue comes from their failing traders (who blow their 25K contribution...why do you think they ask for it in the first place?) it's like those get rich quick scams..."We'll make you a billionaire!...but first you must give us a check for 25K"...

    BT ratings

Strange ratings for BT, in the 'Brokers' part of this site. Only 12 ratings (including the D. Bright one) ... 67% negative opinions. Are the ratings locked or is it just that the traders with BT think the rating is justified compared to the other brokers/firms ? OHLC

    Point Direx

IMO, Poindirex as a broker is great, great customer service and friendly people, good platform, low per share pricing. But the overall service quality is completely messed up by SWS... Even the SIPC statements are erroneous ! OHLC
