    Losing Trades Archive

Hi All, Would any of the active traders here be interested in posted chart examples of your losing trades (any timeframe)? I've searched ET and there aren't any real threads dedicated to losing trades. There are obviously some examples in the Journals, but those are scattered all over the...

Pulling historical emini quotes in C++

Hi, I know that R, MatLab, PHP etc are all better suited for pulling historical data from places like yahoo finance, but if you wanted to get daily or weekly data for the eminis into your C++ code/program, how would you do it? (yahoo finance doesn't provide historical data on the NQ it looks...

    Trader Vic:Hyperinflation is definitely coming

CNBC aired the interview on July 19, 2010. Gold closed around 1,182 then and went on to a high of 1,900 in early Sep of 2011. Today, in Dec 2013, it's down to 1,235. M-T-M notwithstanding, any intelligent trader acting upon the idea that we are headed for a fiscal collapse could have profited...

    Trader Vic:Hyperinflation is definitely coming

Yes, just as economics in its physics-envy has ignored reflexivity, so does reflexivity ignore the need for an unshakeable moral compass, as you point out. Soros' analysis is definitely a step up from economic dogma, but nevertheless it is also philosophically flawed: we cannot begin to talk...

    Trader Vic:Hyperinflation is definitely coming

What most miss, even Soros in his views on reflexivity, is the following very unpalatable reality: fallibility and political leadership do not mix and never will mix. In fact the latter has always undermined the former. The only framework that can truly allow fallibility to influence the course...

    Trader Vic:Hyperinflation is definitely coming

This is a case of 'pick your poison'... If you are right about ZIRP being status quo going forward, then it only exacerbates the magnitude of the eventual collapse, wouldn't you say? The only corrective event that can avert collapse is a return to fiscal sanity, which is well past the point of...

    Trader Vic:Hyperinflation is definitely coming

In one of his recent speeches he mentioned he's long gold from $400 and also at mid teens. Maybe he's half right and half wrong as of today? We're in the mother of all reflexive trends... Cheap credit has been its fuel, reinforcing the notion that we can get away with an ever increasing debt...

    Trading on "Instynct" (NQ)

Instynct, you are a great trader. It's just a matter of one small tweak in the operating system that's running your decision making process. Art is right, do the historical inquiry, and then rerun through the last 2 Wednesdays, bar by bar. Re-feel what it would have been like to stop out...

    Trading on "Instynct" (NQ)

Then the solution is clear: you just have to commit to pulling the plug at -$350 max, maybe -$400. There is a point where the P&L shows that we're out of sync. I was afraid that the swings were larger intraday, but they're not. You would have been up money on the week if you had stopped on...

    Trading on "Instynct" (NQ)

Question: what does your intraday P&L look like on your winning days? Does it ever dip to -$500 or even -$1000 before you end up closing out at +$300 to +$500?

    HP H8qe and 4 monitors

Cool link to Eyefinity cards: http://www.amd.com/us/products/technologies/amd-eyefinity-technology/for-consumers/Pages/what-is-eyefinity.aspx Does anyone know how loud these Radeon cards are for general computing and trading (no gaming)? Like the Radeon HD 6580?

    HP H8qe and 4 monitors

My gut feel is that you're right Scato. Check this out: I talked to tech support (India) and they said that this pavilion p7xt can come with this card: 2GB AMD Radeon HD 7570 [ DVI, HDMI, DP & VGA adapter] and they also said I can run my 4 screens (dell 1905fp dvi/vga ports) on that...

    HP H8qe and 4 monitors

Ok, so looks like i need either the machine you mention above or basically any machine that's got 2 PCI 16x slots in which I can run 2 NVS 290/295 cards. I use ensign software which does take some power I guess? The issue with the T3500 is that its processor is 1 ghz slower than the...
