    Did Your 'Edge' Come Easy?

Edge, imo, is a 'guaranteed' way to make money (positive expectancy, etc.). It says nothing of the volatility associated with capturing that edge or of the expected return. IMO, the RFR is an edge. Investing in a 5,10, 30yr treasury is an edge - it's just that there are more profitable...

    Why I quit algorithmic trading

This is the key point imo - to me this says he spent his time coding other people's strategies and never spent time developing his own. The fact that he worked in trading is irrelevant, this appears to say he just spent his time coding (could've been any other industry). Maybe I'm wrong...

    Medicine or Wall Street?

Anecdotally, I'm also told it's a very systematic career path (medicine). This can be a negative if you're caught on the wrong side and is also very political in nature. Practically I don't know how true that is. ...imo, I'd be more interested in the private field of medical...

Are US mutual fund managers idiots?

No. Most of the real investment management houses that manage significant money consist of smart people doing what they say they will. Asset management is different than trading is different than banking. ...there are obviously some who don't know what they're doing, but that's no...

    The ACD Method

I know you've mentioned this book before - so I was at B&N yesterday and picked it up. Haven't been able to put it down since and am nearly done. It's really, really interesting/insane/informative. Good suggestion:cool: ...also it's interesting to compare the portrayals of MF in this...

Any true bond trader here? Or ex-bond trader?

Exactly.:) Then what about a coupon bond that pays 2% or 20% coupons? Now, you should be starting to get the idea.

Any true bond trader here? Or ex-bond trader?

What if you think of duration as the length of time it takes to repay the price of a bond with its cash flows? Consider a $1,000 par zero coupon bond that matures in 4yrs. It takes 4 years to recoup $1,000. What about a $1,000 par bond that matures in 4yrs and that pays a 5% coupon each...

True. I'm also surprised that coming from Sarah Lawrence she's not looking for a Sugar Mamma (or maybe she's doing both and the article didn't specify).

    Sugar Daddy Meet College Student

"I'm not a whore. Whores are paid by the hour, can have a high volume of clients in a given day, and it's based on money, not on who the individual actually is. There's no feeling involved and the entire interaction revolves around a sexual act," Haha, that's an interesting distinction.:p
