    IB routing to PRIMEX

Maybe you can reload an older version of TWS until they get it fixed?

    Metastock vs. Tradestation

If you want system testing don't get Metastock. They have beautiful charts but that's it. Tradestation is the industry standard but expensive or locks you into their brokerage service. You should take a look at www.amibroker.com It isn't quite as pretty as Metastock, but has a much more...

    Stop loss on IB

I use stops 100% of the time through IB to enter and exit and found that once you get used to their backwards algorithm its not too bad. It does cost a little slippage sometimes, but there isn't a good alternative cost-wise.

    Basic Questions about IB

In regards to how they make money, I believe Def stated they made over $500 million with their proprietary in-house trading system last year. I don't think retail is a big money maker for them (except for Island order flow and self-clearing), but they already have the infrastructure to provide...

Seems to me your days with the fewest trades were the most profitable?

    IB Charging quote fees now?

I'm pretty sure you can trade NYSE without quotes, but can't say I've tried yet.

    Beginner who needs direction

I finally developed successful systems after using a probability approach to trading vs. indicators, and a goal of achieving a 2 to 1 ratio of wins to losses. This 2 to 1 ratio seems to be the magic number for both daily and intraday trading. When successful traders publish their results it...

    IB Improvements (Part 2)

Yes, I do enter two orders, but the second "Sell" order is disallowed. The part I left out is that the second "Sell" order is disallowed when it's for more shares than the Long position. So if I'm long 1,000, then put in a stop to close the 1,000 long, then enter a stop to sell 1,500, it won't...

    IB Improvements (Part 2)

I am usually always in a stock either long or short, switching hopefully when the market does, but I've noticed a problem with IB when going from Long to Short the same stock. For example if I'm long 1,000sh of MSFT and want to flip short, you are required to enter two different orders; one to...

    DaytraderDave's Trading Journal

I would say that the opposite is true in regards to experience and trading. To say the more experienced traders are scalpers and longer term intraday/multi-day traders are newbies doesn't make sense. You can move huge size in a longer time frame, so I don't get your logic? Tony Oz and Linda...

    DaytraderDave's Trading Journal

I voted "Blah" for your journal because you fail to disclose your stats! Might just be me, but the stats help establish some character and ability. If Hitman went a year just saying I'm up today and down yesterday, I guarantee I'd put him on ignore to save space. He started his journal...

    IB Charging quote fees now?

I was forced to sign up for professional just to avoid lack of quotes the next day. I assume your commissions offset under professional status? I skipped the NYSE quotes at $120 since I rarely trade them. I emailed them with my position and received no response.

    Trading Journal, January

Too bad your quitting the journal Stockk. Can't you just place on ignore those "Protrader" types who's mamma slapped them around too much when they were young? It must be tough having 2,000 people looking over your shoulder and giving you advice though. I'm sure your hanging out with Hitman...

Good job Stockkbroker. I'm still riding the Nasdaq down anticipating at least a couple day sell off this week in the markets. :)

    TC 2000 Real Time

I've used EOD for years and love the scans, but the real-time is a joke. I don't know who their RT target market is, but with the reliability and "clunkiness" of the program, nobody serious would use it for real-time info.

    IB Download to Money program

Recently tried downloading to Money 2002, and haven't seen any transactions recorded yet? Sold 700SH of SUNW several days ago and it hasn't cleared from my portfolio? Does it wait for settlement or is it not working yet?

    The Archipelago Exchange (Good/Bad?)

The primary difference Archipelago will have vs ECN's like Island is it will become a self-regulated exchange. This lets it self-govern itself and participate directly in the Intermarket Trading System (ITS), and the National Consolidated Quote System (NCQS). Another advantage it will have is...

    Going to switch to IB...........

Just "Best" works fine for me. It usually gets split between SOES and island or another ECN. I think you would lose a couple cents if you just used Best_ECN. But haven't tried so wouldn't know for sure? I remember a couple years ago with Cyber when you chose Best you would get stuck on SNET...

    The Archipelago Exchange (Good/Bad?)

Will the introduction of ARCAex, bring about a demise to the specialist system as we know it? Many think so. Here is a good article on the subject: http://www.windowsfs.com/custandpart/spring2001_Archipelago_Exchange.asp
