IB TWS 880.2 & 880.4 hangs on startup

Does anyone else have trouble getting TWS 880.2 or later (went into prod as of Tue morning) to load? I've isolated it to my settings. If I both delete my settings and uncheck store settings on server, it loads fine (but am stuck with a default configuration). And if I then take the default...

    Anyone trading in the UK?

I use IB in the UK. Beware of the stamp tax -- hard to trade LSE stocks actively.

    Day Trading using EVDO Card

Verizon works OK most of the time for moderate trading, though probably not for active day trading. I've used it even in moving taxi cabs.

IBEFP: 1 potential risk that i find

You would earn interest if the stock moves down provided that the amount of the move results in a balance exceeding 10k. The avg profits cancel out the avg extra interest paid in a downward trending market. I guess the bottom line is, I've tried it for 3 months (Jul-Oct, with some Dec...

IB does not send out monthly PAPER statement, what if some thing happens to you?

Sending out a paper statement does not change anything w.r.t. to abandoned property laws. It varies by state, but I believe the minimum is 3 yrs... Also, on the safe deposit box -- MT's law must be in the minority. In most states any activity, including payment of fees, resets the clock...

Any online firms handle the JSE?

Good pointer -- will use as a backup. Better yet would be someone in the U.S. or U.K. I am more comfortable in the US/UK (know how to hire lawyers, etc., in case things go wrong).

IB does not send out monthly PAPER statement, what if some thing happens to you?

Not at all, just that to tie it to succession contingencies is incorrect. If you're willing to pay for it, IB prof svcs can probably come up with a solution. Give them a ring at 866 694 2757.

Any online firms handle the JSE?

I have an increasing interest in Africa -- but haven't found an online firm which allows trading ont he JSE. Anyone know of such? Thx.

IB does not send out monthly PAPER statement, what if some thing happens to you?

Come on guys.... This is a silly hypothetical. Unless you have designated someone else to trade on your behalf, if something happens to you, the person stepping in would be committing a crime. And if you're dead, you will still need the will to be probated before the executor can take...

IBEFP: 1 potential risk that i find

Sure..... you always run the risk of needing to hold until expiration.

True -- for this reason, I've actually given up on trying to over optimize with EFPs.

IB - Dealing With Early Exercise of Options

Your exercise will be at least 1 day in arrears bec you don't find out about your assignment until the next day. And of course, if it's on expiration Friday....

    IB TWS pinkout craziness

I don't agree but then again I don't scalp. There are also alternative front ends like ButtonTrader, etc. which give you a more flexible DOM window than the built-in BookTrader.

$52k gone from my IB account. What next, sue IB?

So it would be inappropriate to ask if a release of claims was part of the deal? :D Glad things are resolved.

    IB TWS pinkout craziness

They are exactly the same underneath -- same jars if you're using the same version.... Just a different launcher and the network version will reload a new set of jars if they've been updated (compared to the version in your JNLP cache)

Synthetic call combo orders on IB

Well, both issues appear to be fixed today. So I go from being perplexed to being estatic bec I've gotten some fills tight enough to be arbitrage situations! I see some of my combos were executed entirely on ISE whereas others were split between an options venue and an ECN. I guess there...

    Phantom quotes on ARCA

This thread brings up one of the other questions I've had for a while.... Why isn't there a matrix of order type & destination with an indication of native or simulated? I think that would be quite useful. And perhaps some details on how the simulation works. Like I am still perplexed at...

IB: Misc Fee with multiple accounts

You do get charged if you want to create a login for, say, your financial planner. (And that login would need to pay its own data fees if data were desired.) That's what I misinterpretted your original post to mean.

IB: Misc Fee with multiple accounts

I believe this is not correct. I have 2 logins (but same user, me). I don't discriminate which login I use to trade (well, office vs home) but frequently one of them (the office one as I work from home mostly) does not meet the $30.

IB: Misc Fee with multiple accounts

But this is distinct from having multiple usernames per user. So if you have only one user on an account with two user names, it's a single minimum.
