    CBOE Exam Fee

Some in the business have speculated that it's going to be similar to the Series 55, however the SEC has given the CBOE until May to figure it out. Of course, they could always delay it further, but my guess is they won't, as they want to collect the fees!

Going from retail broker to prop firm

If the firm charges you for training and then gives you capital, then it's the same as taking a "deposit", but masked as "training". Not all firms require training or charge for it, however training is beneficial depending on your experience level. Usually, the training fees and capital...

    starting a trading group?

Perhaps you can try opening an "investment club" account at a major broker with your group of friends and get volume discounts based on your pooled capital. I believe TDAmeritrade is one that offers such accounts. You state "I'm not located in the US" which could be interpreted as you not...

Is this guy a good trader?

"Is this guy a good trader?" Well, that depends, did he get long AAPL when it hit 200 and take it back up for 30 pts? Did he get long PG from the bottom? Saying "I told you so" or "I told you this was coming" or words to that effect is one thing, but actually BUYING when there is fear in...

    SMB Capital New York

A more honest and direct approach is to make a call as the trade occurs LIVE in the market. Otherwise, as you mention, any "trade suggestion" is pointless especially if it has no guidance on entry, stop and target.

    Another stock going bankrupt

Yep, there is always a risk with ANY stock, regardless of its prior history. From virtually unknown penny stocks to to the 100+ year old Lehman, etc. The value of any stock isn't really measured by "book value" or "forward p/e ratio" or the crap mentioned on CNBC or in a company's financials...

From the CBOE.org regulatory site: "To demonstrate that persons or entities that have provided the non-clearing broker-dealer with cash are owners and not customers, the broker-dealer must do the following: - It should have complete paperwork for all class members, including signed LLC...

    echo trade question...

This pertains to SEC rule 15c3-1: Contained in a letter found on the SEC.org's website (regarding prop firms): "The Securities and Exchange Commission ("Commission") has for some time emphasized that capital contributions to a broker-dealer must not be temporary. The Commission stated...

    Overtrading, forcing trades

Good responses thus far. Eliminate the "noise" while daytrading and build your position as you take entries off a larger timeframe (5 or 15 min, for example). However, this may require you to withstand a larger intraday drawdown to allow the trade to work. Just my 2 cents.

Weekly Poll: Even After The Ugly Red Candle, SPY +1.5% YTD. Where To Now?

Yep, I heard that also. CNBC will always tout "buying opportunities" so the long-only players keep buying on the way down, while the SHORT SELLERS take the other side and milk it, even if it lasts for a week or so.

    What qualification to manage money?

If you can develop a profitable strategy trading options on index futures and currencies, then trade on your own with a verifiable track record of at least a few years before you attempt to manage funds for others. I'm not sure of all the licenses requried for futures/currencies, however I do...

    What is a prop firm?

One item to look for in the financials is the Class A vs. Class B capital, which will give you an idea of how much capital the firm itself has placed (Class A) vs. the capital contributions from its traders (Class B), and then do a year-on-year comparison to see if there is any material change...

    PropTrader - Daily exploits

Ya, I'm sure you'll have plenty of opportunity to play more downside, this ain't over! Regarding your trades: 1. Given that you trade the financials quite well, have you done analysis of your win/loss ratio of stocks you trade that are outside the financial sector? 2. What caused you to...

    What is a prop firm?

The amount of capital required and profit split will vary by firm. You also get to lever up your capital at a greater rate than a standard retail account. The best way to learn at a prop firm is by watching how other successful traders interpret the charts, and then by implementing a strategy...
