    FINALLY passed TopstepTrader's Combine!

Just an FYI, if you get their emails, then you'll see they actually just funded over a dozen more traders recently. If some of those survive past the "10 day rule" then at least some of them will celebrate, so it ain't all for nothing. :)

    FINALLY passed TopstepTrader's Combine!

It's a learning experience, and the $3,783 is a small price to pay with 16 combines, much smaller than if he placed 3k to 4k in an AMP account with no rules, and burned through it. However, I think we both agree on the "non-event" part. I've even used the word "irrelevant" to describe passing...

CBOE Holdings Agrees to Acquire Bats Global Markets

When I traded prop and used DAStrader, I regularly used the BATS route. It was very liquid and the fills were great. BATS merged with Direct Edge, and now CBOE has gobbled up BATS. As I recall it was Nasdaq that bought ISE recently, and I'm sure we haven't seen the end of mergers and buyouts.

    FINALLY passed TopstepTrader's Combine!

No problem. Your spreadsheet reveals that you can trade 1 lot of crude and bank $9k within 9 days. Unfortunately, as you stated, it doesn't fit within the parameters of the combine simulator, otherwise you could just pass it and trade their funds on a live account. The real benefit of TST's...

    FINALLY passed TopstepTrader's Combine!

I was responding to the post made by Surprise, not your post. Since you posted a response, I might as well address it: This thread is regarding JamesEM, who took a TST combine and passed, with some discussions regarding TST's rules. Yes, of course futures trades in "contracts" but you can...

    FINALLY passed TopstepTrader's Combine!

Yes, those figures are simply a representation of "equity" based on a daily risk amount of 2% and $10,000 of equity per lot size traded. The "true funding" is the $4,500 figure for the $150k account, since that is the trailing maximum allowable draw, or 3% of "equity" in the account. However...

    FINALLY passed TopstepTrader's Combine!

Pekelo, Traders will have a tendency to take more risks in the combine just to try and pass, irrespective of whether or not they know about the FTP and its rules. This will continue to occur until TST makes the rules of the combine/FTP/Live uniform.

    FINALLY passed TopstepTrader's Combine!

The "pot at the end of the rainbow" will depend on the equity balance on Day 11 of the LIVE account. You correctly figured out the nuances of the TST program by the following post in your blog: "Of course, if they were to set the same rules for the Combine, they'd find that their clientele...

NVAX down 84%, Some Option Buyers bought the $8s for $.20

Ya, buying and holding can really pay off sometimes, but trading is more fun. :D

    BABA

Two important dates for BABA: October 25th when they report earnings. November 11th when they report "Black Friday" sales in China, or "11/11". Does it rally past the prior all time high, or disappoint and tank once again? I'll be out well before the number, which means it will...

SEC charges hedge fund manager Leon Cooperman, Omega Advisers with insider trading

Yes, that's probably why he sent the letter and made it public, citing the actual trades as well. The SEC claims he made $4 million, but that was the overall gain over time primarily from his bond purchases, and some stock that he bought in the single digits. Since he owned $150 million worth...

SEC charges hedge fund manager Leon Cooperman, Omega Advisers with insider trading

Cooperman cites the following: "Separately, we have been advised by the U.S. Attorney’s Office that it has not completed its investigation but has determined not to pursue charges for the time being pending the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Salman v. United States." I was curious as to why...

NVAX down 84%, Some Option Buyers bought the $8s for $.20

"I bought NVAX at $1.13..." Damn, that was a good entry on the common. Approximately 100% return in a week, try getting that at Wells Fargo, lol.

SEC charges hedge fund manager Leon Cooperman, Omega Advisers with insider trading

The complaint is fairly straightforward, and it seems he probably had the "heads up" prior to the sale of Atlas. https://www.sec.gov/litigation/complaints/2016/comp-pr2016-189.pdf If the Atlas executives gave him a non-disclosure agreement to sign indicating he would not share the information...

    FINALLY passed TopstepTrader's Combine!

You're right about the metrics being changed to make the pass rates more achievable. However, passing the combine has no relation to a person's ability to trade in a real account, unless that real account had the exact same parameters of the combine. The combine is simply a training exercise...

    FINALLY passed TopstepTrader's Combine!

Nice going on passing the combine. However, from reviewing your posts, it seems you're aware of the difference in rules between the combine-FTP-Live account. So my only question is this: Why did you trade the combine in a manner which would not have worked in FTP/Live?

NVAX down 84%, Some Option Buyers bought the $8s for $.20

By the way, thanks for the heads up on your post regarding NVAX. Yes, I called it a turd, but also mentioned there could be an options play and the charts looked interesting with the $1 mark as long term support. I took a call spread (Jan 18's, 1.50 by 4). The vertical turd is up 40% already...

Apple adds some $50 billion in market cap over the past 3 days!

Looks like a cool phone. It's made by Huawei, so it's not as recognized in the U.S. as the more popular Samsung/Apple/LG phones. I recently ditched an old LG for a newer HTC. Had I known about the Honor I'd have definitely considered it.
