    High-performance trading architecture.

Did I miss it, or did anyone ask what markets were involved. imho a solution for equities is much different than a solution for futures etc... Anyway, waterloo, if you have any questions about equities or futures solutions I have built more than a few. The current futures platform we are...

    need help regarding day trading

Also, you may find that asking more specific questions will garner more responses. Asking how to day trade is like asking how to build a bridge. No easy answer, and there are many different methods to do it, imho. -The New Guy

    Smacking the ER2

Well that's good! I'm following this thread with interest, and pulling for you. I just had a look at yesterday's chart, and I think you should consider it a smashing success. If following your trading rules is the goal for now, then you obviously succeeded, and I think the fact that they were...

    Smacking the ER2

How have you been feeling about your trading, btw? Also, how can you tell the difference between a buy and sell signal on your charts? And what does the "c" mean? - The New Guy Edit: nvm about the long and short signals, i see them in your post now....

    This Exchange or that one

Not sure where you're located, but that could make a difference. Right now, I believe the CME to be the fastest, and most reliable. Eurex used to broadcast their prices in one-second pulses, I think they either do real-time now, or have increased the pulse rate, so it's less of an issue...

The importance of 'ping' - latency/connection speed in trading.

That's an interesting take... to be honest, I never considered that. I assumed that those parameters were loaded into my trading platform, and were checked as soon as I clicked the "make a bad trade" button, but now that you mention it, sometimes there is a spot of latency there. I'm...

    Pair trading ES/NQ

I believe it's the same issue. You need BIG accounts and FAST programs to do this, imho. Not to say that there isn't money to be made somehow, somewhere with this type of thinking.... -The New Guy

    Pair trading ES/NQ

I think if you run the numbers through a black-scholes type of equation you'll find that the cost of carry, plus the execution fees etc make this very tough for the small guys on this time frame. Just a guess, however.... -The New Guy

Blew up 2 accounts: Need input

It IS easier for smaller accounts to post higher %'s, it's only logical. The last prop firm I worked at there were at least three guys who broke 100k that year with 50k accounts. That firm was nothing special, so I'm sure other guys are doing it. Hedge funds with 100mm can't divy it up to...

    fstrader's swing trade journal

A good example of this is spydertraders journal. He started with the Jack Hershey Equities system, and at some point realized that when some criteria aligned, it was actually a signal to short the stock in question, rather than go long. He spent the time, did the research and came up with a...

    fstrader's swing trade journal

Not hedging, but a system that is designed to make money in a bear market. Long only systems (obviously) make their best money when the market is going up. If you have say, three systems, one that is for bull markets, one that is for bear markets, and one for a sideways market then you can...
