    Great New Pattern

In real time, I just took 3700 tbl at 43.12. 11:15am. DO your own dd. Rtharp, thanx man. I still have 6500 of hte 10k of pta I bought around 4.1

zboy, I know it's scary. Look at mo at that point you give in 98. Firstly, I doubt I would be buying up there with the rsi so high. I probably would have been averaging into a short. Had I bought, It would have been at least 2 pts below the high, as that seemed to be the intraday range around...

    Great New Pattern

needs volume like a lot of these do. That's why I think we go down more. We haven't had the mini panic bottom on these yet. These also look interesting: rvsn, cnx, plxs, tecd

But on your dis or mo example, or even t, eventually by averaging, I would have gotten to a point where i was at least even, especially if i pyramid, assuming i have enough capital. That's what a lot of specialists do.

    trading nyse

That's an interesting story. Do you know which stock. It is almost the same guy every day. But often on low volume days, july 4, new years, jewish holidays, you can really beat up because the clerks are all doin the stocks.

    Great New Pattern

I remember being long this for at least 7 pts of that drop. Heh, it was a nightmare. I somehow got out of it all flat. THat is definately not my pattern. I look for things that drop fast and hard and I buy at the first sign of either uptick, or volume. For instance, emc is really juicy tomorrow...

Should i route my order to the MMs ?

If you want in, or out, just cross the market. If you cross it enough on island or snet, someone will take you.

    trading nyse

if it's filling on the offer, it's probably going higher, or the specialist is selling there and to sell there, he has to sell yours there also. It depends on the situation.

Not to sound like the idiot, but that strategy of buying and just waiting can work (IF AND ONLY IF YOU KNOW YOUR STOCK VERY WELL, AND IT IS VERY STABLE) Look at dis, f, t, mo or any of the other stocks I trade a lot. Can you find a time where dis dropped 1.5+ pts and didn't recover at least half...

    Continuation Probabilities

It isn't a gambler's fallacy really. Any given day could probably be either up or down (though probably not exactly 50/50). But the odds of 7 straight up days is probably beyond the range of 2 standard deviations, and i'd deffinately short. Look at the bol bands I guess. I do the same thing a...

Follow hot stocks or core stocks

I normally just play the stocks that are most down on the day. As a result, Im often trading a different set of stocks every day. I also trade about a half dozen nyse names every day just about and when im active in them I can do over 30k shares in a day in that one stock. (mo,f,dis,t,and a few...

Is technical analysis less accurate on...

That is true. On more liquid stox, major support/resistance points act just like magnets as the novices try and anticipate breakouts. It is best to fade those moves, cause inevitably they will break out, only to fail. This is the main reason that I mainly try to trade stox that are under 500k...

Orders made to a Market Maker

I have found soes to be useless. On most of the things I would trade, there is only tier 1, and If you want 5k shares, you'll be there an hour before you're filled. It's much better to just keep sweeping ecn's, unless you can figure out which mm is selling, and just snet him.

does a low float mean anything at all???

Which stock? I'll move it for you. Just 5k at market. P.S. which direction do you want it moved?

    Get a job?

As long as you are consistant it isn't dificult. Im a college student, and my only expense is beer, but for those of you with families, you have to condider the stress of NEEDING to make money. It can lead to forced trades. Consider it this way. 220 trading days a year. $500 a day, which is very...

    Goodbye to Daytrading

Good point. It takes large losses for you to finally confront your weaknesses in trading. I always start a good winning streak following a bad week or 2 and the last day of that loosing streak is always a 5k or more loosing day (usually around 10k). After that I usually fix whatever, calm down...

    experienced trader please help

Numbers are VERY important. That is why I origionally thought I would be good at this 3 years ago. I have always been very good with math type stuff, and I am good with strategy type games too, especially chess. But in the end, I found out that most of my most profitable decisions are gut...

    experienced trader please help

On the topic of economics, the only use is finding the equilibrium point for buyers and sellers of widgets. Besides that, there is no real life application in the short term trading market. Why else are econ professors teaching classic p/e ratio theory and earning a teachers salary while im in...

    Risks trading with ECHO Trade?

Not to get terribly involved in something that I don't know the particulars of, but I had a long conversation with the people at echo last night, and they went over a long series of checks that they do to insure that no one takes on too much risk, or is foolish with that risk in proportion to...

    Day-trading caused market crash?

Well I for one am honored to have caused the market crash. As for daytraders causing volatility, hey, it happens. But not all daytraders chase volatile plays. Today I was all over WFC, FSH and RIG. And they had huge moves. Let me tell you. The most I caught was .4 in fsh and .3 in rig...
