    Selecting an off- shore country

My lawyer was saying that the recent tax treaties will scare off foreign capital and investors who like being anonymous.

    Selecting an off- shore country

I went looking in their website. This is what they say: 5) Accounting services for offshore funds are often handled in name only by the on-island representative. The work is often farmed back to the US to ensure it is done correctly...

    Selecting an off- shore country

I am going to contact GTT in a minute and get a "prepared statement" from them. No sense me talking out of my ass when I can get an official story. I intend to email them your post to see what they say. As per my fund.... What can I say, I really have had a great run this year. It is a...

    Selecting an off- shore country

Thankyou. This really helps. The cost will be prohibitive. So far, I only have one potential overseas investor, but I think that the tax advantages make it sot hat it pays to look in this direction and have the fund there for when the demand comes. I am using GTT for my work, they gave me a...

New Tax Bill coming, great for traders!

I would applaud the 15% cap gains rule. That is how it used to be. It encourages investment in our country. I intend to derive more than half my gains from long term investing by next year anyway. This means that if you can make 100% scalping, you are actually making only 65%. If you can make...

    Selecting an off- shore country

Thanx everyone. Master feeder just means that I have a us fund and an overseas one. They both feed into the main account and I only trade one account. I let my accountant later on figure all the numbers out. That makes it easy for me. I would like somewhere that is somewhat built up.

    Reporting results to family/partner

I send out a monthly performance report. My partners seem quite content with that. Maybe that is because so far I am having a great year? I get a few instant messages and emails if they have questions, but generally, what they see is what it is. The fund has not had a down month yet. When...

    Selecting an off- shore country

Hey, I recently spoke with my accountant and fund lawyer about setting up an off shore fund. This fund would be a feeder fund into a main fund (master feeder setup). They both suggested dozens of prospective countries to choose. Here were their main points that I should consider. 1...

SEC looking at Hedge funds and Short Selling

Jim Chanos piece was by far the best. Face it, the man is a genious. I do not think they will regulate the hedge fund industry much. All the rich wall st guys are in it. They don't want their money maker to disappear. It looks like the only change will be to double the criteria for being...

    Review of Decimals by SEC

I hope they never get rid of pennies. A few spread traders might make money again, but most of us are tired of having to pay a nickle each time to execute a trade. Besides, most stocks over 10 a share trade in nickles mainly anyway. This will only mean that you can't penny some asshole who's...

Read the annual letters of berkshirehathaway Best thing is that they're free. It is about 300 pages net, take you like 5 hours of dedicated reading, or about a weekend if you were like me and read it through 3 times so that it all sunk in. Why bother paying for someone when you can...

I don't know, but I'd say that my fund makes 5-20k a month in trades off mainly RM pro, mostly kass, greenberg, eavis, and willard has been really hot lately. I have done about that for a year previously in my own account also. There are a lot of good guys.

Thankyou I can get 3mb down for about 350 a month. That seems like the best deal to me. There are no other real options down here in NO.

Doug Kass on realmoney pro has been on fire lately. It isn't too pricey either at only 350 a month I think. The guys at insiderinsights.com are doing pretty well too. I use both services, and they are well worth it.
